Nah, it’s fine. It’s EASY to make fun of, and deserves criticism for the Manic Pixie Dream Girl stuff, but making a big deal out of hating Garden State is almost as lame as loving it and thinking it’s the best movie ever.

I know this is controversial, but I LOVED Bachelorette. So psyched for this!

To me, this sounds fair and in the realm of inspiration not a rip-off. The riffs are both done on a piano, and are similarly styled in terms of pace, but the actual melodies don’t seem very similar to my ear. The similar use of the staccato note punctuating the motifs seems to be the big take from one song to another
