Don't be sad when great men or women die. Take as a cue to step up your game a bit— the world now has a huge empty gap in it and it will take hard work from thousands to fill it.

But, if each of us could be just 1/10,000 of the man we have lost think of what we would gain.

Rest in peace...

I just feel privileged that I got to even exist at the same time as him. Truly a great hero.

Well, damn. Good job on that your entire life thing, though.

This was already posted.

Obviously I can't speak to the authors intent (or possible lack thereof) but does everything have to have one? Is it possible that it is just an anecdote, not meant to elicit any particular response?

I don't understand all the questions about how to take this... it's her life. It's OK for it to be morally ambiguous. I interpret it as a child taking an empowering action against an abusive and inappropriate adult but you, reader, can interpret it however you like.

I think it's a really good "First Person" but that whistling sound you heard was the trolls lunging after a Frisbee.

I love this. I'm surprised to see it here, though, and not on The Hairpin, especially after reading all the, "WUT?!" comments.

I miss when you had to audition to comment on Jezebel. I'd love to read those comments on this story.

They should really just preemptively shut down comments on this article.

Yep. Yeah, totally the appropriate response to this piece. Definitely.

It's all food, hater. If its not your holiday fine - keep it moving... I wouldn't go out of my way to insult the food that your culture uses to celebrate.

Yeah, this shit has been going on OOLONG.

...They know each other... it is a joke. Personally I think she is adorable.

1. How do you know she's pretending?

I know. I've always been Team Noel*.

At least nobody is having a Chico's kind of day. Unless I missed someone sporting a leopard print sweater set and relaxed leisure pants?

You know, I work for Palestinian rights of enfranchisement and reparations, and stupid remarks like yours (to: ThereAreManyLikeItButThis) which are totally unrelated to the topic, do a disservice for those of us committed to human rights in the region. I, myself, was very moved by this documentary. She is no less

Not to mention lack of public services after Detroit's bankruptcy.
