One thing to consider is that, if this relationship is very new and you've only slept together a couple of times, that could be the issue. Sometimes it takes a little bit of time to get in sync with someone new.

Ugh, ignore that comment. My guess is that she knows someone she dislikes who did this and extended her dislike to the entire enterprise. If you're unhappy with what you're doing now and like teaching and traveling, it sounds like there aren't any downsides! You have your whole life to be settled down here at home.

It is a job. The whole point of a job is to escape/avoid bad economic situations. If someone can take a job that has the side benefit of allowing her to travel and have fun, that's great. Why look down on it? What's the point of working at all, if it doesn't give the worker the ability to have some fun in her life?

I worked at a drug store when I was in college, and I remember having to fill out a pretty long questionnaire. I think the point of it was to determine how honest you are, by asking essentially the same question in several different ways to see if you are consistent. So, in addition to asking if you are outgoing,

If they are working as teachers, how is it a paid vacation?

As former university faculty in the U.S., my experience/understanding of the terms is the same as SeaAnemone's, so perhaps it isn't universal even within a given country.

That is horrible! I had my identity stolen and it was a huge headache, but I was able to resolve it without any financial loss. But it involved police reports, lots of letters to collections agencies, and obsessive monitoring of my credit reports. I hope your lawyer will be able to fix it without too much trouble for

You should do what you feel comfortable with, but I personally don't like the idea of the lesser-earning partner doing the household chores to compensate, unless that person is working significantly fewer hours on a regular basis. If you both work full-time, are you supposed to spend a significant amount of your free

Option two sounds like the best one. If the bed is his you'll need to buy one in a few months anyway, right? I don't know if you ever lived in a tiny space in a college dorm at some point, but it is totally doable, and it sounds like having your own space will be really good for you.

Hmmm...maybe start looking for another job in whatever other locations you'd be willing to move to, and then go from there? From what you say, it doesn't sound like you are that into the relationship or NY, so why not start with the one piece of the puzzle that has to be a constant?

Ugh, good luck. It sounds cynical, but coming from someone who has been there, spend as little time as you can on the TAing.

I don't think that not being able to work for 10 hours a day 7 days a week is strange. That sounds grueling. You need to give yourself a chance to recharge sometimes. What sort of a program are you in?

If he makes twice what you do, he should pay more of the rent. Say you bring home $20,000, he brings home $40,000, and you each pay $500/month in rent. Then you are spending 30% of your salary on rent, and he's spending 15% of his. I think when there is a big discrepancy in long-term partners' salaries, they should

Wow. That right there is why cocaine is going to win this whole thing.

When I was pregnant I met a huge man (like, 6'5") who was so big when he was born that they had to break his collar bone (I think?) to get him out.

Ah, the next phase in Walmart's quest to become American's company store.

At least it was interesting, which is more than I can say for Piz.

But I liked that he ended up with a tough lady. Plus, I just really, really couldn't stand Piz's hair.

Ooh. Piz < Riley. Riley had a dark side that made him a little more interesting. Plus, the way he and Buffy figured out about each other in Hush was awesome. And he came back into town with that kick-ass wife.

I just watched the episode where Trina Echolls (Alyson Hannigan) and Kendall Casablancas (Charisma Carpenter) meet and trade insults. I cackled maniacally through the entire thing. I'm sure that scene was written just to give us Buffy freaks a thrill.
