I don't have an answer to this question, but I can say that I know someone who got a JD she regretted and didn't want to use. After a few years of being unhappy and under/unemployed, she now has an awesome job with a non-profit. So there is hope!

What kind of a dog is he? What do you think is causing his reaction in the nursery? Mine really wanted to play with the baby toys at first, especially a couple of my old stuffed animals that must smell fantastic to a dog.

My son came 5 weeks early. Our dog woke us up at 6am, which was a few hours earlier than usual. (In retrospect I think the dog knew something was about to happen.) At 6:15 I felt a sort of pop, and my water broke. It wasn't anything painful or even uncomfortable, just a weird feeling to have lots of water rushing out

That is absolutely ridiculous. There is nothing in that story that would make any normal, well-adjusted person angry at you. It sucks that this is happening, but I really hope neither your girlfriend or her friend think you are responsible.

Thinking more about this hypothetical, I don't see myself being bothered by, say, Laura Bush going on a late night show to promote a literacy campaign. I feel like there are sometimes conservative politicians on with Jon Stewart and my main reaction is that their message is probably falling on deaf ears, but otherwise

I don't know how you can say there is a double standard at work when people criticizing a Republican president is a hypothetical you created.

That doesn't make it less awful, though.

That makes sense. I hope it works out!

I was just listening to NPR today and a reporter told the story of how, many years ago, he was told by an NPR exec that he got a reporting job there...and then later in the week received a letter saying that they had given the job to someone else. Turns out he was the someone else. Did you get the wait list news in a

I don't understand this. I don't even have a mailbox, and some of my FedEx packages end up getting delivered by the USPS. And I'm in NYC, not a rural area.

This has nothing to do with me thinking I'm smarter than anyone else. Your comment implies that we all have the same resources and we do not.

The subsidies we have now influence our eating choices in a negative way. They need to be fixed. I don't see how changing which foods get subsidized or at least doing away with the subsidies we currently have is an attack on taking personal responsibility, but leaving it as it is is fine.

Yep, god forbid my infant son should wear gender-ambiguous onesies and be mistaken for a girl. It drives me nuts. I've had strangers say they thought he was a girl because of his curls, and I wanted to be like, well, since you're not going to be interacting with his genitals in any way, I don't see how it matters.

I really do not understand what is radical or feminist about perpetuating the idea that cooking is the domain of women.

I was at the farmers' market a while back and a mother and her daughter, maybe 12 years old, were looking at the brussels sprouts. They had never had brussels sprouts and the mom asked me about the best ways to cook them (they had accents, were possibly from somewhere in southeast Asia, not sure if that's why they

My son is 8 months old, so all he has been eating is milk, veggies, fruits, and a few whole grains. But my mother, who is extremely health conscious and eats an amazing diet, has already asked multiple times if we are going to let him have cake and ice cream on his first birthday. So I am going to do my best, but

I was visibly pregnant while drinking champagne at my sister's wedding and no one said anything. But maybe that's just our families... since having the baby everyone has been encouraging me to drink and I keep having to say no, I've got to nurse soon and I've had enough. At this point everyone pretty much knows that

I think body type has a lot to do with how good you are at hill climbing. If you look at professional cyclists, the climbers have a very specific body type (very little fat). So that could be part of it too, if your boyfriend is skinny and you have a bit more body fat like most women do (not implying you are fat!).

Part of me hoped for twins the first time around so I could get all the worst stuff over at once. Now that I have the one, having twins on the second try would be a nightmare.
