That seems like both a fun and slightly terrifying job.

EX girlfriend.

Remember that airbags are only meant to be slightly less dangerous than smashing your face/head/body into solid metal objects at high rates of speed. Unless the airbag is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to protect you from serious injury, the airbag will not deploy, because the airbag itself is dangerous.

People think of airbags

As I mentioned at the end of my post, backup cameras currently meet the criteria you mentioned, and have been included in vehicles for many, many years. Existing technology can be re-purposed. Not to mention that if the technology is already being used abroad, then odds are it is already ready to meet NHTSA standards

This can’t be a serious comment. my phone can shoot 4K at 60 FPS, which is about 6 zillion times higher quality than you’d need out of a mirror camera, and my phone, which does a lot more than camera stuff, costs $500. Quit exaggerating. Three decent cameras, three screens, and a bit of wiring won’t cost “thousands of

That is NOT 2 degrees of camber at the rear. That’s, like, at least 5 degrees, which is absurd. I autocross my car with 2.5 degrees of camber at the front, and it looks nowhere NEAR that angled.

I need to figure out what I’m going to do, exhaust-wise. I don’t want something loud. I just want something slightly throatier. I don’t like making a lot of noise unless I’m making 700 HP, lol.

I’m told a tune all by itself will achieve that kind of change. It will also fill in the torque dip. At least that’s what I’m told! I may try that in the future.

Thank ya!

This past weekend I was at Miller Park in Milwaukee for the Wisconsin Region SCCA event. Typically I’m at Route 66 in Joliet, IL for the Chicago Region SCCA events. And sometimes TSSCC holds events at Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake.

Fair enough. What did you wind up with, if you don’t mind my asking?

You can’t really say that about ANY type of modifications. Wider wheels are useful. They provide more grip. Coilovers are useful. They improve your suspension characteristics. Lowering the car a bit is useful. It lowers the center of gravity and keeps the car more stable. Etc...

Adding 10 degrees of camber makes the

My point wasn’t longevity, but day-to-day reliability. People I’ve spoken to were concerned that keyless systems would be finnicky, and unreliable. I’ve had the car 20 months, and put 32,000 miles on it, and not a SINGLE time has the system failed to detect my presence, or otherwise malfunctioned.

As far as longevity,

That all makes sense. I mean you’ve already done the small, light, un-powerful car thing. Maybe it’s time for a muscle car!

As far as winters go, I live in Chicago, so...

I've had terrible luck just with the PSSs when it comes to them picking up sharp objects. I can only imagine what RE71Rs would do!

It’s a tire/tool trailer I made for autocross! I have a whole post about it over on my blog if you’re interested :)

Thanks! I’m pretty proud of that photo considering it was a spur-of-the-moment thing captured with my Samsung Note 3, lol.

Ahh, I gotcha. That makes sense! I know some people with our cars flip the headrests around so that they angle backwards for that reason, lol.

Not a bad choice if you need more room! The Toyobaru is only a two seater, really. The Mustang makes much more sense as a “family car.”

I have to say I’m surprised your wife didn’t like the seats. Myself (and most others) consider the seats in our cars to be some of the most comfortable seats we’ve ever been in!

I’d suffer form an extremely rare case of jack-stand failure while working on the truck.
Seriously, though, this is harder than the extra credit question was on my orbital mechanics test.
