Kind of like a school cafeteria. Also, even though it is brand new, it is too small for the number of people who work here. A space by yourself is not possible unless you go during a very off time (pre-11:00, or post-1:00). The hard surfaces and cramped quarters also make for a very loud space.

It may sound lame, but it isn’t. I get some uninterrupted time to read, make personal phone calls, etc. Thanks to our open office design, I’m constantly bombarded by other people’s conversations be they work related or not. A little quiet time where I don’t have to hear coworker 1's take on last night’s game or…

I’m an hourly employee who punches in/out via my computer. The time clock software automatically deducts 1/2 hr from my total time here for lunch. I’d gain nothing by working through lunch and in fact be penalized as I’d work that 1/2 hr for free. 

Is he drunk, high, or both?

I still don’t understand why Nadler (that’s right, isn’t it?) doesn’t simply present Munchkin with a “legitimate legislative purpose”. I mean, I get why he doesn’t want to, because he doesn’t need to and to do so allows Munchkin to “win”, but...

It is my belief that Congress has the power to subpoena anyone for any reason and that person must present themselves. To not do so should result in immediate contempt and that person should be then compelled to show up.

Put that shit in your carry on bag. All you should have in your pockets when you get to security is your ID and boarding pass. Everything else should be in your carry on. That was my first thought. 

Indeed. If forced to take my breaks in the break room, it would ADD stress to my day, exactly the opposite of what they intend. 

I’ll have to find another way round about November as it’ll be getting a bit cold to sit in my car to eat. Maybe by then they will have chilled out (pun not intended) about eating at desks.

Yes snacks are ok, but eating your lunch while looking at your phone or reading a book is verboten.

This. My company recently built a new building with a brand new cafeteria/break room. Then they banned eating at your desk because they want us to take a break from work. I don’t eat at my desk because I work during my lunch, I eat at my desk because I don’t want to talk to people. So now I eat in my car.

I interpreted “laughing” not as one laughs at a humorous joke, but more like how someone who has been driven insane by the sheer stupidity of it all laughs.
