It's absolutely a complex issue, that involves all measure of cultural influences and base psychological drives. There are general trends to consider, along with personal freedoms. It's been a tricky issue from day one.

Well the "violence is bad and sex is icky" notion was facetious. Obviously the show is solidly on the 'violence is exciting and sex is yummy' team. As is most of the human population... and arguably, that's the way it's been since the dawn of storytelling, since sexual and aggressive drives are so inherent.
