for the most part the tiguan have had the same driveline ( i put a 2016 tiguan engine in my 2010 gti, they are both ea888 gen2)

the Tiguan is just a lot heavier and creates a windsail on the highway.
my a3 with the same engine is absolutely more eager on the highway and especially above 65mph
