It is taking a massive effort to restrain myself from screaming “What the fucking shit?!!!” at my desk.

In a time that has created a numbness to horror due to the frequency and ever increasing depravity that permeates our news cycle, this is some heinous BS.

I do not understand anti-Taylor Swift sentiment. I don’t care enough to have much of an opinion, but I don’t get why others dislike her so much.

I tend to like 90% of what I get, but I rarely pay full price (I think I’ve paid full price once out of 30+ orders) and I also always check the fabric content. I rarely buy anything that isn’t 100% cotton. I also stick to certain brands - their cotton house brand dresses are consistently reliable for me. Plus they

I reject the assumption that “bonded for life” means you have to have like... a daily friendship exchange with someone. I’m bonded for life with people I haven’t talked to in years. There are strangers I’ve met out at a bar that I feel like I bonded to for life even though I’ve never seen them again.

You’re an asshole, and the worst kind of asshole-an indignant one.

Was a member years ago, when, uh, their core mission was training and workshops...They have lost their way so bad. The fact that they almost are ready to recommend it is perfectly acceptable to have an AR full auto for home defense has really done them in.

Yes yes yes. So many good points I wish I could star them all.

Even better, in a few war zones we have whats called rules of engagement and the first rule is we cannot fire unless fired upon. Now, “the streets” could be tougher than patrolling Iraq or Afghanistan, but I managed to survive 3 years.

You clearly have a comprehension issue here, or you just haven’t read what Gob Hobblin posted. I hope you never need a cop to bail your ass out of a tight spot because you sound like a compete twat.

On tasers: have you listened to the NPR Reveal Podcast about them? It was fascinating, but largely the take away is that tasers are mostly useless.  For example, using it on someone in the winter largely isn’t going to work because of thick coats.  Using it closer than 4 or 5 ft also isn’t going to work because of the

Bravo!

You can’t change the fact that there are good cops anymore than you can change the fact that black men have unjustly been killed, or racism exists. They are not mutually exclusive facts, they are simply facts. Refusal to acknowledge facts that don’t agree with you is absolutism, and denying the reality that the world

The country is shifting into a dangerous situation where a majority of people are having a very small minority speak for them. The more progressives flock to the cities, the more positions in Congress and The more skewed electoral colleges divide becomes.

Thank you for taking the time to respond and thoroughly explain your answer - I appreciate that you were able to do so without being defensive.

‘Me and my ilk?’ You don’t know anything about me, or my ‘ilk.’ You don’t know that the primary certification my coworkers voluntarily go for is EMT, you don’t know about the multiple lives they’ve saved as the primary first responders in an area too remote to ensure proper paramedic coverage, or the professionalism

Your solution boils down to this: have a single police officer who takes his job seriously, and treat everyone he encounters with dignity, leave. And essentially have a fifty-fifty coin flip that whoever replaces him also takes the job seriously, or is another racist, misogynist, violent thug.

I think it’s a combination of issues. Part of it is definitely training, as police agencies have tended to over-emphasize tactics to anything else. This was a response to a perceived (and in some cases, a very real) trend of police officers being outgunned or in dangerous situations that required a ‘combat’ mindset.

I can answer the first question, because that’s one of mechanics and not policy.

I’ve long wondered if part of the issue is the term “privilege.” It makes folks think of being “privileged,” which sounds like being wealthy, which isn’t what’s really meant. What’s meant is stuff like “you have the privilege of ignoring race, or saying you do, when you feel like it.” And “you are less likely,

And you poor, poor trolls. Hating us is not going to make your miserable existence any more bearable. Your hate isn’t going get your mediocre boy and girl into an elite university. Your impotent rage isn’t going to get you out of your shitty suburban apartment complex into some equally shitty exurban house with an
