No, speed was definitely an issue, or more specifically speed for the given location. Most objects on highways are designed to absorb the energy of a high speed vehicle impact. City streets objects are not. I highly doubt the car would’ve burst into flames hitting a tree at 35mph.

That Camaro is also running a lot more front negative camber than stock, as well as wider, grippier rubber. Stock suspension on the camaro has more adjustability than the toyobarus, which is a big advantage in that group.
