Also - there are unofficial nicknames for freeways that aren’t signed, so radio traffic reports may be useless.
I’ll add: If you’re transiting Houston to points beyond between 7AM and 7PM - east/west or north/south, take the outermost ring road (99, 8, 610) that you can. Do not try to take freeways through town during prime drive time. It’s a trap!
