I get uncomfortable when people compare a culturally homogenous society favorably to a diverse one. Their intent may not be racist, but the subtext is still there.

Well, here in Jersey, your air rifle needs to be in a locked container inside your trunk. And you must have Firearms Owners ID card. So, probably nothing, unless they're suspicious enough to search your car. Also, you can't legally use an air rifle for any kind of hunting.

I'm interested in what you think bike rider's share of the cost is. When it comes to wear and tear on roads, road damage rises to the fourth power of axle weight, so a bike's impact is trivial compared to cars and - especially - 18-wheelers. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gross_axl… ) Cyclists aren't allowed

Except the whole "You can't beat Russia thing is BS." Russia lost twice in the 20th century alone: to the Japanese in 1904, and to the Germans in 1917.

Presumably there are activation codes needed to arm Russian nukes, just like ours. A rogue operator can't set one off. That's why in Clancy's "The Sum of All Fears" the Israeli nuke has to be taken apart and rebuilt by the terrorists. (Yeah, I know, I'm not using Clancy as source, just an illustration)

But he can have them thrown in the Gulag. Assuming the FSB is loyal to him.

You're assuming the Russian military would obey orders to start a war with the US.

I started school in 1966. We never had it.

I'm not nitpicking - I was actually going for a cheap laugh. (Because not that many people know Grumman made road vehicles. Their aluminum canoes were and are bullet proof)

Nobody MAKES you pass in an unsafe way. Your sense of impatience does that. (But having lived on a two lane country road with lots of No Passing zones, believe me, I'm sympathetic)

Yes. I grew up hearing my dad's stories about Grandpa's Model T. 1/10, would not drive.

Agreed. But if you buy a Lotus or a Ferrari you kinda know what you're in for.

That's the nature of being a boutique car manufacturer - you just can't do the quality control the majors do. If I were a gambler, I'd short Tesla stock right before their "affordable" models debut.

I thought cold weather was hell on batteries, though.

So those old-school Grumman mail trucks are reliable, because the same company built the Lunar Excursion Module? #notsureaboutthis.

People who buy an expensive exotic car will put up with it being temperamental, if the manufacturer treats them well. But if they have bugs like this in their forthcoming volume-selling models, they're in trouble.

It has to do with the way colonial powers drew borders, making sure their colonies were filled with people who hated each other, so they wouldn't unit and turn against the colonizers.

Honestly, Foxtrot Alpha might be a better fit with Gizmodo or Gawker. But I always read these articles and like them, no matter where they appear.

I mostly agree with you, but it's not an option in my state, realistically. (New Jersey).
