The A.I. was terrible and the stealth mechanics were weak. And the game, despite being designed in such a way that you need to preserve ammo, drops you in to two scenarios where Joel magically receives unlimited ammo, contradicting the game play in the rest of the game. It's a bog-standard game if I have ever played

Oh look, The Last of Us won all those awards. Yawn.

Issues with the game as it starts to draw to an end? Reminds me somewhat of Xenogears. And I freaking love Xenogears. I'm enjoying Bravely Default enough to look over the problem. Even when you described the 'problem' in the review it didn't seem enough to really get on my nerves.

Disc 2 of Xenogears had terrible pacing issues, and a lot of people felt that dragged the game down. But I was enjoying Xenogears so much when I played it that the issues didn't hinder my experience when I reached disc 2. Even with disc 2 as it is Xenogears is still one of my all-time favourite JRPGs. I'm playing

Oh I have to agree. In many ways Xenogears is a broken game, but I adore it. Even though there are multiple aspects of the game that I dislike somewhat, if you look at the game as an overall package I wouldn't change a single thing. It's really weird. Xenogears is the only game I really feel this way for too.

Phantasy Star IV is fucking brilliant. Arguably the best game Sega ever made as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah they are both genre classics. I don't know which of the two you prefer, but Xenogears is one of my all-time favourite JRPGs.

Other then few games like The Last Story, Xenoblade Chronicles and Ni no Kuni (there are some more, but not a lot) most of the best JRPGs I've played in gen 7 have been portable ones.

How in the world did you forget those two? I mean, they're only two of the best RPGs of their generation.

"I would prefer they remain locked away in the nostalgia vault instead of being victim to Squeenix's recent directionless, graverobbing nature."

This is exactly why I wouldn't want to see a new Chrono game. Well, I'd LOVE to see a new Chrono game, but I wouldn't want Square Enix as they currently are to make it. Unless

My brother got Bravely Default for Christmas, and I bought it just before, and although I'm yet to play it my brother is loving it. And he isn't even a tenth of the JRPG fan that I am. The fact that is is just like old-school Final Fantasy is what makes me want to play it the most, I just need time to set aside 70

Yeah Chrono Cross has proven to be quite polarizing. On a personal note though I really enjoyed everything about it. Even the biggest worry I had going in to play it for the first time, the fact that the game had over 40 playable characters, didn't actually play out as badly as I thought. Granted, some of the

I don't think Chrono Trigger needs a direct sequel, but Chrono Cross was a very good game also, so I'd like to see another Chrono game at some point.

I'm all for re-invention, and bringing new ideas to new to a series. But Final Fantasy has strayed so far away from what I want from it that I question if it will ever come back. I was actually one of those who loved Final Fantasy XII, but X and XIII really felt horrible to me personally. And the fact that I'm not a

Nothing makes up for that.

The story is just one huge, convoluted mess.

But Half-Life 2 does a far better job of it than Final Fantasy XIII. It also has a far superior story and better characters.

Exactly. That's what Final Fantasy has been missing in recent years. I'd love to see a return to the whimsical style of Final Fantasy IX also.

I can't even watch it, it's too painful.

Phantasy Star II is so f***ing good.
