It is not an innately cultural thing in the US. As a kid (in rural America), it was actually unusual to visit a house where you had to take off your shoes at the door. It was not a rule for me growing up until we moved into a new house, which my mother wanted to keep as clean as possible, so no shoes. Having said

I feel like this should be obvious: You don’t walk on clothes. Even in the western world this is true.

Street Pass was ridiculous at conventions.

The 3DS is perhaps the only Nintendo device whose original design was the prettiest of the bunch (unless you count Famicom vs NES).

So now have Sony Studios/Xbox Game Studios and PlayStation Network/Xbox Network?

Yeah, I have qualms with that “doesn’t need to be” part. I’m not aware of anyone going “Oh, yeah, a Cloud-version on Switch is exactly what I wanted.”

DLSS offers upscaling that is amazingly close to native 4K. There is no general purpose interpolation technique on the market that even comes close.

This is really interesting! I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about DLSS — though haven’t tried it myself. Using it within a dedicated device to deliver high quality visuals at low cost could be brilliant.

Hmm, so you’re saying that an ad featuring a woman’s belly is objectification, but an ad littered with male butts is not objectification, but instead misogyny? Okay, sure.

But what does Microsoft do with that money that magically makes them better at games? As Amazon learned the hard way, games are not a put-money-in, more-money-comes-out kind of business.

Huh? Sony’s current cash-on-hand is $44b, which is lot more than Nintendo.

OTOH hand, Microsoft still uses Blu-Ray for its games. So the more users buy physical Xbox games, the more Sony is getting a cut. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Are you saying Microsoft could easily buy PlayStation if they wanted to, or Microsoft could easily beat PlayStation in the gaming sphere if they really wanted to? Because those are completely different things, and it sounds like you’re arguing the latter. Which Microsoft has consistently tried and failed at, to the

YMMV, as I’ve only seen the opposite (though my sample size is 2). My guess for your company it’s the Office integration rather than anything else that put Teams in the lead. So if you’re primarily an Apple or Google company, Teams is generally seen as worse than Slack.

Can those figures really be trusted? Microsoft literally made it so that Windows has you log into Teams when you boot the system. How many “active” users are just clueless people entering their Office details because Microsoft asked them to?

It is copyright holders’ fault that copyright law is so horrible. Disney has successfully extended the length of copyright by three to five times what it used to be. If not for them, we’d all automatically have the right to do whatever we wanted with Super Mario World today, since before the 1970s copyright length was

Notice in the last two screenshots here that new lights have been added to the scenes. So this is hollywood-esque, but it looks like they were forced to tie them to physical light sources instead of being allowed to have magical ones.

If we look at total sales across all consoles during the PS2 generation, there are about 202m sales. During the PS4 era (which still hasn’t ended, btw) there are already around 250m sales. The PS2 had a very long production cycle. I believe it was around 12 years before they stopped making them. The PS4 isn’t anywhere

Everyone keeps touting that whole “consoles are becoming obsolete” rhetoric, and yet every new generation results in record-breaking sales. The PS4 has sold more units than the Wii... A device which is synonymous with high demand.
