Seems like the studio as a whole is winding down:

A major issue with the first two Bravely games is that they stuff absolutely everything cool at the very end of the game. So you wind up with about 5 hours of fun, 30 hours of monotony, and then a final 5 hours of fun again. It’s really bad design.

Sure, it’d be difficult to take DMC and add a turn-based mode. But we’re not talking about DMC. We’re talking about FFVII Remake, a game which literally utilizes an ATB gauge. In other words, it is entirely doable to add a turn-based mode to this game with fairly little effort.

For those players, Easy Mode still exists. Classic Mode is just a very tiny skin on top of Easy.

I think they should fully invest in figuring out how to do both. When smaller developers can figure this kind of thing out for CRPGs, certainly a larger developer can figure out how to make a game have both full-fledged action and full-fledged turn-based.

This particular visual style is basically the worst for showing off graphics. It uses diluted shading, which is 90% of what newer machines/GPUs bring to the table.

Is there a disconnect between Japanese and Western developers? When I read this title, I was reminded of games like Pillars of Eternity and Pathfinder: Kingmaker, games that literally added turn-based modes to their otherwise real-time games.

Riiiight, Epic totally cobbled together a game store 4 days after Valve changed their pricing scheme... Definitely not Steam getting ahead of the inevitable announcement by Epic of significantly lower fees.

The issue I was trying to get at is that it is not and should not be a software developer’s goal to try to make one hardware platform more attractive than another. That a consumer can choose between different devices should have zero bearing on whether a software developer can choose between different retailers.

I could be wrong, but pretty sure none of those other companies also require 30% of any in-game purchases or subscriptions... Apple is literally the worst of the worst as far as price gouging goes.

I seem to recall Apple recently demanding that WordPress add the ability to purchase some content on iPhones (and get a 30% cut), despite said content being entirely unavailable on iPhones.

People keep missing how much that last sentence is the entire problem. Epic doesn’t make phones, Epic doesn’t sell phones. It should not be their job to convince you to buy a different one. Would you tell Firestone to try to make all their customers buy Chevy?

This seems like a really weird carrot for Apple to chase. It was the introduction of the Epic Store on PC that finally coaxed Steam into lowering its cut after almost two decades at the same rate. If anything, it proves Epic’s point that lack of competition is the sole reason Apple’s cut is 30%.

Lorehold is straight up the Indiana Jones school, and I can dig that.

Worth noting: I received an email yesterday from NZXT stating that they were sending out new risers, not just nylon screws.

Is this something different/better than the PS4 Pro/PS5's Boost feature?

You still need to do things like aim your bow, etc, so at some point there must be camera control.

They weren’t great. Particularly when you wanted to make a big sword swing, the game had a tendency to register your wind-up as a swing, causing Link to attack in the wrong direction. You had to train yourself to “swing” a sword by flicking your wrist instead of actually doing a sword movement.

which sounds pretty Fire Emblem to me

The stamina gauge, one of the lauded aspects of Breath of the Wild, was worrying?
