Implying, though, that all men have the same fantasies about power trips and all value the concepts.

Except in America we stopped making the TV shows where we do cool things like go to space. Anime still does that and at a fraction of the budget of a live action, CGI program.

Speaking frankly I have no idea why Harmony Gold still cares about Macross/Robotech. They refuse to do anything with the brand. They could get royalties from model kit sales, box sets or what have you. They could release a special edition blue ray. They could dub Frontier. But no, while they have seemingly abandoned

It's not just Macross, though. Gundam Extreem VS is a fantastic fighting game and the Gundam IP still has a following in America (despite bandai's best efforts). Americans love fighting games as it is and Gundam Extreem VS is well balanced, though in a way much less conventional to Street Fighter or Tekkan fans.

Now playing

Oh sure just skip over Homeworld and Homeworld 2.....

I can't speak for the handhelds but as far the consoles go it seems like the recent trend from several developers has been to put favor on Europe over America. And it's growing.

America has become a wasteland. While America descends into a singular, homogeneous mass of shooter, Madden and Bioware fans Europe still has a healthy population who derive enjoyment from JRPGs, Dynasty Warriors and other titles.

I have a question.

Yup. They want to starve the market. The less desire there is for verity the more likely you can apply a one size fits all marketing scheme. Honestly I have my suspicion that this was a wholly Nintendo of America lead charge as it fits in with the rest of he American industry's marketing philosophy of a few, big

When you say "typical" do you mean like all of the awesome that we could expect from the halcyon days of JRPGs or the sort of "typical" lack of quality and/or fan service that so many modern gamers seem to lump all modern JRPGs into? Cuz, honestly, I'll take either.

Oh I'm well aware of the variety on the PS3 and Nintendo. I attribute it partly to superior support for Japanese developers and partly to having an longer history leading to a following of gamers who are more familiar with a wider range of genres

Is there any word if this will be an Xbox exclusive or also on the PSN? I mean I know that the long standing stereotype goes that Xbox gamers are much more into shooters than PS3 or Wii gamers but last I checked the various CoD titles as well as Kill Zone were still some of the hottest titles on the PS3.

Modern business culture couldn't be less concerned with the long term.

Just saw this right now. It perfectly sums up my thoughts on the matter.

Why would they do any of that when trash and shock value sell much better?

I feel there is often a disconnect between what's mature and what's adult only (for lack of a better term and no I am NOT referring to the ESRB rating).

And it will always be an option. You can not stop it you can only slow it down or force it to adapt.

You're half right. We don't get many good JRPGs in the west but they are made. The problem is that many of them are either new IPs or IPs that are not very popular or even existent in the west.

The concept was very interesting, the living battlefields were very fun and ground breaking at the time and the worlds were richly designs and vivid.
