I enjoyed this comment more than any Kotaku comment I’ve read in a long time. Though I have to say, some of the screeching replies telling you “your [sic] just jealous” were also quite enjoyable.

Weirdly enough, the show ending in a massive clusterfuck of disappointment has made me more excited to read the next books. If the show had ended spectacularly, I think I would have been less excited to continue reading because I would have felt fulfilled. Now I’m excited to see how they diverge (and yep, I know the Read more

I was wondering when I read that part if he was implying he was drinking at the time (9:04 PM). While it might seem stupid to tell on yourself like that, I do often hear people try to invoke that excuse for stuff like this, as though it will absolve them in some way.

Yeah this is right up my alley so I hope it’s good, but this trailer was not leaving me feeling optimistic... the cheeseball camerawork in particular.

Look, guys, if you can’t play as Yaddle then I’m not interested.

Samara Weaving is great - really elevated Ready or Not. Mildly funny that Agent Smith’s niece is playing Neo’s daughter (actually, judging by hair color, guessing she’s playing Bill’s daughter).

Well said! And how many of the “love it or leave it” folks took their own advice during the eight full years they spent whining under Obama?

Drives home the extent to which execs, not artists, are typically deciding on the final titles. I feel like writers/musicians/etc. nowadays are all thinking in creative terms and don’t want their work confused with countless other works of the same/similar names while execs are just trying to choose the safest route Read more

Agreed! What’s funny is I recall a few gushing posts on reddit talking about how Pascal deserved appreciation for all his subtle body work in the series. I like to imagine Pascal seeing those posts and doing the monkey looking sideways gif.

I hear you my friend, and I hear this said about Mass Effect 3 as well, that the ending completely ruined the whole experience. I’m very glad I’m not wired that way; I didn’t like the ending either but it in no way diminished the thrill and enjoyment I had watching everything that came before. Read more

Half agree here. Being talented at everything is a perfectly fine trait for a character like Rey that doesn’t necessitate her having no arc/growth. You can be supremely talented and go from being a dick to a selfless hero, for example. As it happens though, she was supremely talented and also had no growth in any Read more

Thank you for nailing what I feel like many are missing in this story. As dumb as he is, I don’t think his point is that the virus itself is made up and will magically disappear after the election; it’s that the coverage and “hysteria” over the virus will disappear because it’s strictly a political issue being Read more

It’s okay to compare one thing to another thing, even if those things are different in some key ways. That’s the whole point of comparisons.

You can set out to do something original and then still try to put it into terms someone will easily understand later on. I don’t see the issue here.

Existential” has a few usages. In this context, it means a threat to humankind’s existence. I think you’re thinking of it like when an individual has an existential crisis, which is a little different.

It sort of reminds me of when I would shut myself into my room as a kid and when I’d finally emerge to join the family, my mother would just have to say some mocking variation of “oh, look who decided to finally join us...”
