Thats a good point.  I mean life was often miserable when GOT ended.  Now?  I turn on the news to, a dictator invading and killing hundreds of thousands in Eastern Europe.  An allied nation casually blowing up civilians every day.  A presidential election that threatens to tear democracy apart.  Who wants to sit back

That sounds like the last scene in Saltburn.

Was...

No, she’s just becoming more selective in her appeal.

I just have to point out, that’s a 54 year old woman in that picture. I’m talking especially here to those people who complained about Ruby’s age makeup in the last Doctor Who.

Who could have possibly predicted that fans would quickly sour to the idea of paying $500 a ticket for shitty arena seats to see a mid-level artist. I’m sure somehow Ticketmaster will find a way to blame the fans.

Down.

I saw Laufey play the Fillmore in Philadelphia in Fall 2022. Sold out tour. Small clubs. Saw her play Town Hall NYC in Fall 2023. Sold out tour, bigger venue. Saw her in May 2024 at Radio City Music Hall. Sold out tour and she did 2 nights at Radio City. Laufey is doing it right. Bigger venue each tour, but not too

Yeah going to “lack of fans” is kind of lazy. Charli XCX and the Black Keys are still within a very small percentage of bands- it’s rare to have *any* significant radio hits, Grammy wins/nominations, or commercial deals, let alone multiple. These are still “names” though obviously not a Taylor Swift level. If it’s

I think it’s possible a lot of these acts could sell out those venues with a slightly cheaper ticket price. There’s so many people who can’t afford $100 for a ticket ($200 if you’re taking a date). Not to mention how many are midweek which can’t be easy for a lot of people. Also they’re probably not spending enough

*3/4 Day festival

This is also live sports now. Blame ticket and concession prices, the inconvenience factor, and the fact that you can grab a 4K TV for relative peanuts these days. New sporting venues are being built with smaller capacities as a reflection of this.

The only true way to see a huge headliner these day and feel like it’s a value is going to a 3/4 festival.  If you can deal with all the other stuff that goes into being at a festival that is.

I guess another thing is that bands are more reliant on revenue from shows to survive. With most music being consumed via streaming, which is shit for most artists, they only really make money from gigs, merch (maybe) and physical sales (vinyl) if they’re the sort of artist that has a fanbase that’s interested in

Ouch! I saw the Black Keys in Austin about a decade ago and i thought they were really good. Ive since lost interest in their music tho.

There’s no need to explain.

No. I think the fever dream ambience of post-apocalyptic and dystopian movies precludes any need for strict continuity. They should feel chaotic.

Here’s the two theories the fans posit:

I mean, Furiosa puts the Storyteller in the actual movie (and Dr. Dementus’s “History Man” is called “The First History Man” in the credits.) So it’s pretty clear these are “stories the people in the Wasteland tell about their history” not “what actually happened.”

Speaking of comics, I wasn’t aware there are some Fury Road tie-in comics from like 2016, and the Furiosa one apparently covers her time with the wives, working for Immortan Joe (quickly fipped through it online, and it seems to be the case). Pretty much the story I wanted from this new movie... Miller provided the
