I confess to sharing your hope, but couldn’t totally put the Women’s March drama and #MeToo out of my mind. That’s just the most recent stuff, but we’ve got receipts going back to the women’s suffrage and abolitionist movements. They never really change.

This is why I support reparations. After getting less during working years, the need for that income only gets worse later in life. Black women should not be expected to work until they are 85 over this bs.

There will still be violent crime, no matter how many social workers you have or if you fix income inequality. You will always need some kind of investigative and enforcement authority and some of them will need weapons.

As a white person, do you have any genuine interest in learning about the path that our country has forced non-white people to walk since the colonial period?

My first thought was they should organize a field trip to the governor’s office.  Kids need to learn how government works, right?  I’m sure the governor would love a photo op with each student, too!

We need a new system. The one in place is broken beyond repair, so we need to stop throwing good money after bad. Take all the funding possible from the current one to build it, with new groups of people to run and staff it.

I must admit this is what makes me nervous. When we’re excluded, it’s expected. When we’re included, it’s suspicious. If we’re the ones driving the effort, that’s a step in the right direction, but with the federal response we’ve seen I’d want another partner to keep watch.  There is no goodwill or good intentions…

Long enough for me to wonder why no one tried to vomit. You know you drank something harmful, it didn’t burn on the way down/cause immediate pain, and you just sit there waiting for it to take effect?  Hell, no.
