He's my congressman, too, but I've only been in NoVa for a short time. What has he said in the past? I had developed some good opinions of him based on things I've heard from him in the last year or so, but perhaps I've missed some of his more unsavory behavior.

In other pictures, you can tell that it's not a print, but a lace overlayed on top of the navy fabric. I actually think that increases the formality of the dress, though it doesn't photograph as clearly. Personally, I love the dress. Michelle looks great, but I don't think the dress is anything special. Michelle's

I think he sued the website (Don't Date Him, Girl) in that case in order to try to identify the anonymous commenters. You can certainly sue people for defamation, whether it's published on the internet or elsewhere, but first you have to identify the speaker. Here, he clearly knows who the speaker is, his

@All: Thanks for all the suggestions! Clearly, I'll have to do my research, but you've all given me some great advice!

Eek. that is expensive. I really only use mine to smooth things out before I walk out the door, rather than straightening curly hair, which I imagine requires a more finely-tuned tool. I think $180 is out of my price range, but the Chi seems reasonable. Thanks guys!

On a related note, I could use a recommendation for a good straightening iron.

DC metro tends to be very open about the fact that it's a body that's holding up the commute. But for once, last week or so in DC, "person on the tracks" did not mean a body. Someone shoplifted at a mall and then fled onto the metro tracks. I was glad to hear no one died, but what a supremely stupid place to flee

I had a friend who used to work for WMATA in DC who said that a person rarely dies immediately when hit by a train. Instead, he probably lies there suffering, pinned between the train and tracks, for the excruciating amount of time it takes to lift a train off of a person. He'll probably die later from his injuries,

Because one of the other people killed on Saturday was also hit by an L train in the morning.

Ooh, I like that. Maybe it's time for a username adjustment!

Thanks, folks!

I don't want to cause you to pass out from excitement, but today is my birthday, too.

I was just drooling over the Bodum website this afternoon...

In my mind (as an American), pantyhose are the sheer, skin-toned leggings that tear way too easily (I suppose stockings? Although I don't use that word often). Tights are thicker and usually some color other than a skin-tone.

That is how every girl in my homeroom looked in my Ohio high school. Of course, I somehow had homeroom with all the "cosmetology" students, which I put in quotes because I wondered what exactly they were learning.

Yes, I am actually wildly annoyed that she is planning to try to turn their mission of honoring veterans into a political event to benefit her own bank account. Her self-involvement and sense of entitlement is astounding.

Responding to promote your comment. Thank you for sharing. I graduated 9 years ago, and I am sad to hear that so many of the same problems persist. I never pledged, but many of my friends joined sororities and fraternities. I understand that sororities, in particular, provided certain benefits. But by the end of

People get confused by the states in the middle of the country with a lot of vowels. Throw Idaho in the mix, too. I grew up in Ohio, too, but have lived on the east coast for 12 years. People who aren't from the midwest occasionally mix up those states and forget which one I'm from and/or don't know where the
