@samarkand: I have never experienced that in my 4 years in DC. However, I will admit to giving the side-eye to the guy wearing a very obvious toupee on teh metro this morning. But I would never stare!

@individa: wow, thanks for the information!

@LaComtesse: I definitely thought it was banned as of, maybe, 5 years ago. But maybe they lifted the ban?

@TheFuriousFive: how about the call i once took (while working on a DV hotline) from a man who was whacked in the head with a 2x4 by his wife? i don't think it's fair to say that that a woman doesn't always "realize" she can injure a man. many women know how to injure a man if they choose to.

@dumblonde: it's possible the lawsuit is to find out the identity of the person(s) actually doing the editing, e.g. IP address. there is some precedent for forcing websites to disclose that kind of information with respect to commenters who say defamatory things, although i think that law is still somewhat

@Zombie Ms. Skittles: well they were merely "invited" not formally subpoenaed. The committee is now considering issuing subpoenas. If they refuse to show again, they can face some sort of sanctions, like jail time.

@UrbanAchiever: The internet suggests that I can actually lay claim to Eartha Kitt. I also have Al Capone, James Earl Jones, Ben Franklin and Muhammad Ali.

Looks like a Word Girl convention!

@Schrodinger's Cat: This ad wouldn't have bothered me if it had actually shown some evolution. I understand women did all the laundry back in the day, but it can't be true now.

This ad drove me nuts when it ran during Mad Men. My boyfriend, who probably thought I was raving about nothing when I first brought it up, even commented, after he finally watched the whole commercial, that it was pretty bad.

@ronniedobbs: you have to click through a few pictures to find tyra

@vgnvxn: but that's necessarily not true either...Gaston, Snow White's stepmother, Jafar, even Scar (?) from Lion King was rather guant. Maybe I'm missing something but the only large villian I can think of is Ursula. And she was, like, half octopus which might explain her size... there might be others, but I'm not

@karmasutra är svensk: @stellalukin: And your Dartmouth references are terribly dated (Beta has been gone for years). I'm no fan of the frat scene there, but you do yourself no favors in generalizing such a large group of people so poorly.

@maria_hecht002: Hey now, play fair. I'm sure many a Dartmouth student (and this alum) is embarrased he is associated with the school in any way.

@BreeDMN: the crazy thing is, i'm not sure i even care for the actual "jello" versions of this dessert! but something about the cherry pie filling just wins me over.

@Zombie Ms. Skittles: Apparently the movie-related merch is totally outselling all the other princess gear, so I suspect it will make a lot of money in the theater.

My great-grandmother's banana bread is always popular (and perfect for those overripe bananas in your fruit bowl).

@Zombie Ms. Skittles: I was going to say she looks like someone who just realized where the thanksgiving turkey comes from.
