Basically, every time I see something from Moffat - an interview, a quote, a new Doctor Who episode that exceeds my expectations for how sexist the man can be - I think of this:

Actual plot of the season finale: manic pixie dream girl exists for no purpose but to sacrifice herself for the Doctor throughout time and space.

Oh, you mean like the quote about how he hired Karen Gillan because she's "slim and gorgeous" instead of an actress who was actually good, but "wee and dumpy"? Ugh.

I actually liked series 5 and a couple of episodes in 6 but I just could not with the last one.

Moffat is a sexist douche. I can't even watch Dr. Who anymore after reading about all his bullshit, which sucks, because I fucking love Dr. Who.

lol. Yeah, it's not really surprising considering who is basically running things.

Let's be fair, though, all 8 of this year's episodes were also directed by men. Oh, wait, that's flipping shameful.

Female directors? That's a slippery slope.

At least Doctor Who has (had) some decent female characters. This last season was just trash though, especially the second half. Granted I haven't watched the finale yet (no spoilers!!) and I know River's there so that's gotta be an improvement.

With the current show runner I'd rather wait till someone who knows how to write women to have a female Doctor. My support is behind a POC Doctor right now. Does this track record really sound like it bodes well for a female Doctor?

Oh you know, I'm not a mind reader and that's offensive I guess. Also, people get tetchy when you remind them that not everything is describable in American frames of reference, even when they've lived in Berlin or are from there or something. ;)

It's like, I wouldn't have believed him if he said that was the only time he's ever abused her, but declaring that he's "never abused her physically in any way?"

It took me so long to understand this when I was in an abusive relationship back in the day. I felt so guilty all the time about the things I was doing to make him mad, like I was turning him into Mr. Hyde by being so horrible.

He couldn't have been any clearer about it if he had taken out an ad.

Ugh, avoid narcissists. He'll never EVER believe that he did anything wrong. There is nothing you, I, Nigella, or the courts can do or say to make him fully believe that. He will always know he was misunderstood, that the public was misled, that Nigella did things that hurt him too*, etc.

How weird. You usually don't see domestic abusers actually blaming the victim for the abuse.

To me, this is one of the most horrible parts of the divorce statement:

I'm glad that Nigella Lawson appears to have chosen to focus on her safety, and the safety of her children versus dealing with the public interest.

She just comes off like that friend who tries so hard to tell everyone about her fabulous life.
