RIIICOLA!

YOU WILL NOT CONTINUE TO PLAY CIV! MY WORDS ARE BACKED UP WITH NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

I have always named my capital "Dresbach" - I made it up in my first Civ 1 game back in 1993. First few cities mirror that first Civ game still: My first city on the ocean is "Roga Bay", first city in a desert "Last Gas".

Brin is good, though I haven't read a lot of him. Enjoyed Sundiver, but Startide Rising was a slog - not sure why. I loved The Postman.

Oh, and looking at the river they are trying to cross, how on EARTH did Tom get to Boston without crossing it or going out of his way?

Did they consider the motorcycles? Were they insulated? I would imagine it would make them harder to ride.

You're right he is a good dynamic, but we don't see enough of the character and who he is for me to actually like him. the writers throw him in when they need a conflict or an audience surrogate. I'm hoping they flesh him out more.

Oh, who was the resistance fighter from Vermont who talked to Tom but only got gunned down? The actress looked familiar.

I agree with you on the traveling. It's 600 miles from Detroit to Boston. He didn't pass a single other working car or motorcycle? Not a single bicycle? Not a single thing worth scavenging?

"And meanwhile, Tom can't convince anyone (including himself) that he's not an alien spy or a walking tracking device, or some kind of sleeper agent."

The season 2 premiere had more oomph that the series premiere last year. I enjoyed it.

Oh, well there goes the neighborhood!

I enjoyed this book as a kid. Was looking forward to a movie of it!

*sigh* Wow. The current human race acts as if they are the only daydreamers ever. Somehow we can't get it through our skulls that the ancient civilizations that gave us the Antikythera mechanism couldn't have DAYDREAMED about a craft that could fly - and then drawn a picture of it.

I deposited a couple cents in a savings account - I'm hoping enough interest will accrue for my ancestors to put a down payment on a General Products Hull.

Won't find any. 30 years ago it was "Look for radio signals!" They we started laying fiber-optic lines and realized radio signals faded at long distance. If a civilization is good enough to build a Dyson Sphere they probably already know where we are. :)

"there could be life out there that's billions of years old."

"Note headlights for night cops," instructs the article.

Someone call Willard Scott.

I'm sure that despite not being able to make the super bullets they still won't run out of normal ammo.
