Screw you Consumer Reports.
Screw you Consumer Reports.
That’s the thing though, the LS1 had more power, weighed less, was smaller (overall dimensions), was cheaper to manufacturer, had better fuel economy, and was a much simpler engine. An LS1 combined with a T56 was better than everything from Japan by the end of the 90s. GM sold 30,000+ Corvettes in 1998, that’s an…
X-Plane lied to me.
I’m not saying to buy the Vette instead now, just know that twenty years ago the death of the U.S. Japanese turbo car was deserved. They were too expensive/complicated and didn’t make enough horsepower to justify the cost.
I considered that but wouldn’t hydraulic lines be running below the floor or up above the cabin? They wouldn’t be out at the sides of fuse where space is minimal, right?
No.
Bleh
They are 20 to 30-years-old and were overly complicated to begin with. You need to realize that the C5 came out a year after the 300zx. With the C5 came an honest 345 horsepower from a naturally aspirated small block, something that the world needed badly after a decade of twin turbo complexity. The 1997 MSRP for the…
I may just be sick & twisted but I’m seeing a good amount of blood spray blown back onto the fuselage in that first pic.
Meh, they were such basket cases in the 90s/2000s. They really need a great mechanic to be happy. They weren’t unreliable per say, they were just beyond the skills of your usual mechanic/owner. Now that they are 30-years-old they are going to need lots of parts and work. Plan on replacing rubber bushings, hoses,…
It would be fun, I would have to track down a lot of pics.
I’ve done the flying club route with various Cessnas. I owned a good portion of a 172. I built my own primary glider and a quad/powered paraglider. I’m working on getting back into certified aircraft ownership again (the paraglider was boring).
I’ve owned 27 cars and a couple planes over the last 20 years, I bought my first car at 15 before I had a license. A handful have been brand new but the rest have been bought used. I have done everything from basic maintenance to transmission rebuilds. I am not a mechanic by trade, I drive every day to an office and…
Now I know why I know I like the design so much, I used to fly one of these about 10 years ago.
Gawker’s earlier X-2 article was hilarious.
What about radiation shielding?
170 MPH in my turbo F-body was great, it seemed like the highway smoothed out into nice soft butter. Although that may have been due to a good amount of air pressure building up under the front end.
Exactly, someone should have been there to teach these guys how to drive on snow. Flip that traction control off, let the limited slip do it’s job, and freakin’ drive!
Compact and Midsize Crossovers for the win. Fiat 500s are made in Mexico already but the Renegade is actually made in Italy.
They will be available via Fiat and Alfa Romeo, plus most people would rather have a crossover (Renegade/Cherokee) that gets decent mileage. The Renegade is essentially replacing the Dart.
