This is indeed the main risk with things like that. Not all digital purchases are tied to an account like that, but many are. Though I know that on my 360 and on Steam it's possible to play games while offline, so theoretically that would still work even if the service itself was shut down, as long as you already had

Morally, it's certainly okay to make backups for yourself like that. Legally it's a bit of a grey area, and depends on what kind of media we're talking about. For example, technically it's illegal to rip a DVD or any purpose, because you're "circumventing DRM". However, obviously no reasonable person would say it's

Hence why I mentioned that you can also make your own backups of digital purchases. I bought a couple games from Direct2Drive, which was bought out by Gamefly and doesn't really exist anymore. But I still have the game installed on my computer, as well as the install files on my computer, and a copy of the install

I never really understood the argument that physical media is more permanent. Physical media generally can't be copied (at least not easily and legally). Digital media, on the other hand, can usually be easily re-downloaded from wherever you purchased it, and you can make your own backups in as many places as you

I'm supposed to be going to bed. But now I'm incredibly hungry...

Why is it "mind-bending" that streaming video takes up so much of the internet traffic? It seems pretty obvious to me. Streaming a 1080p video uses WAY more data per minute than any other sort of web browsing. The only thing that could potentially use data faster, is downloading large files, but other than people who

Touchscreens being "inferior" is purely subjective. I work in an office environment, and I would absolutely take advantage of a touchscreen if I had one. You're right that they need to continue to support enterprise scenarios, and it will be a LONG time before touchscreens are at all standard in enterprise computers

I've never used 8 on multiple monitors, I didn't know it took over all the monitors like that, I can definitely see how that could be a problem.

I agree. They're backtracking too much, and it's going to cost us. Maybe they pushed too far into the future too fast, people are naturally averse to change so they have to be careful how much they push. But they're going back too far now. I liked most of the original plans for the Xbox One, but everyone having a

I find it funny that a lot of people do attack Android for being too complicated and difficult to learn for new users, but then when you mention an app that simplify's it, you get attacked for calling Android complicated. The Internet is such a wonderful, loving, friendly place sometimes :D

I saw this article and got all excited. A friend of mine ws recently affected by this problem, and I though if any article was ever going to have found the solution, it would be a Gizmodo article by the former EDITOR IN CHEIF OF LIFEHACKER. Apparently the problem really does have no solution at the moment. Come on

You totally just hacked the problem with the word hack.

I completely agree 100% with everything you said. Microsoft has backtracked on far too many things with the XBox One, but this is probably the biggest mistake. Short term, yes it will increase sales because it's $100 cheaper. But the Kinect has the potential to be awesome, and making it a mandatory part of the system

Didn't buy it from Amazon, and the particular mouse I got (m325) I don't actually see as being on sale. But with this sale I could have gotten a better mouse without spending anymore money. It's not a huge deal though, and thanks for the tip anyways :D

Agreed, the 360 is primarily a gaming device, and a lot of people pay for Gold for gaming anyways. If you want streaming, there are a million cheaper devices you can buy that offer just that. Though now that I don't use my 360 as much, I've let my Gold expire, so this is a nice perk that I can use it for streaming

I just bought a new Logitech mouse last week, I guess I should have waited. I've always been happy with Logitech peripherals, and had problems with various other brands. Generally when I need a new computer peripheral of some kind I just look through what Logitech has to offer and don't even look at other brands,

I did end up buying one, just arrived the other day. I love it already, it's amazing. I can't imagine why anyone would ever use one of those awful rubber ones when something like this exists.

Haha I agree it's not too attractive... and your description is surprisingly accurate. Well said!

Haha agreed, seeing the same commercial a lot does not make me want to buy a product! Personally I would probably stick with normal Hulu+ and just keep the commercials rather than paying more, but I do agree that a Hulu++ should exist, so that people who want to can pay more to get rid of the commercials. I love Hulu,

The other manufacturers are making bank on the $600 ones. Phones have always been deliberately over-priced, even before smartphones existed, a normal phone would cost hundreds off contract. It's because the business model has always been that you're "supposed" to sign a contract. If they were priced more reasonably,
