I'm going to play Disney's advocate here because to be honest I think the Frozen backlash is a bit out of proportion for a movie that hasn't even been released to critics yet. I agree with a lot of the sentiments in this article but...it's really full of holes.

(2) Change the story. In the original story, the girl rescues her brother. Now, she rescues her sister, keeping the trope of a damsel in distress and preventing a girl from saving a boy.

I wanted to be with you, but you have a lot wrong here. In the original story, it's a girl going to save a LOVE interest - where on earth did you get her saving her brother? And she isn't SAVING her sister in this one, her sister is now kinda evil. Calling the movie "The Snow Queen" now would be like calling…

I was waiting on a chance to speak with someone at RAINN (which didn't happen until this afternoon). While ideally the turnaround time would be quicker we both needed to find time in our schedules to talk. I didn't want to write about this without talking to them.
