Yeah, I liked this the last time it happened. Dick Grason, Batman- Remember that? It lasted for so long I can barely find his handful of TPBs in my collection.

Or, to follow through on Luke’s experience, when you realize everyone is doomed regardless, you lose the ability to care.

Well of course. The Syndicate beta test was called Unity.

I approve of Biggus Piggus. Do we get to ride it?

I’ll be truly shocked when a document comes out that links Blatter to legal activites. I doubt the man’s reputation could recover from a blow like that.

As I said, that’s a decent character arc, save for the time frame. Let’s put it this way: If he isn’t redeemed by the end of Civil War, any babies born on that day will be a few days short of two years old by the next time we see the character. Three years old if he doesn’t get redeemed until Infinity War Part 2!

You have no idea how hard I’m holding back jokes right now, but I’m sure your sister is a classy lady, so I must.

Yeah, and that’s a good basis for a story... One that ends in redemption. But we didn’t get that yet, because there was no admission of fault. Perhaps they’ll address that in Cap 3 next year, but that would just go to show the problem with serialized movies, that it robbed AoU of an important point of closure. Still,

I’m throwing a pretty wide net when I say ‘modern’, yeah, but I’m also mainly thinking of the epic-level assholery that kicked in around the Civil War period.

A: Don’t like his dialogue?
B: No, they don’t like his dialogue.
A: Why not?
B: Why not what?
A: Why don’t they like his dialogue?
B: They think it’s too chopped up.
A: Too chopped up?
B: And too repetitive.
A: Too repetitive? Really?
B: Yeah. He says he’s basing it on Mamet-
A: Mamet?
B: Mamet.
A: Who’s Mamet?
B: He’s a writer.
A:

Pretty much, yeah. That’s the movie that Modern Comics Tony/Age of Ultron Tony would’ve made. Tony always seems to make a mistake, fix the mistake, then immediately forget that he’s capable of making mistakes. It’s like he thinks they cancel each other out, leaving his reputation immaculate.

The MCU’s Tony proved that they could- until Age of Ultron, at least, where he’s started to accrue the attributes that make Comic Tony so loathsome.

The problem is when he becomes an authority figure. When he’s making his suits- forgive the meme- in a cave with a box of scraps, he’s the plucky underdog, setting right

Bendis AND Tony Stark. The match made in my personal Hell.

All these dinosaur games and I always have to play as the stupid pink meatsack. I do enough of that in my day job!

I smell a future Feel-Good Movie, here.

Agreed. But that’s part of the fun, isn’t it? Before decades of EU bloat came out it was fun to play with the blank parts of the canvas, and the EU-reboot is starting that off again... At least until the 20 books and 2 movies a year clog it up again.

To clarify, what I’ve been trying to say is that this isn’t something recently canonized by the Prequel Trilogy or the comics, it’s been there since the original theatrical cut of ESB. So chew it out as something that doesn’t make sense to you all you want, but credit it properly, all the way back to the summer of

Edit: You see, I was being sarcastic with my first post. Sorry for the confusion.

It was a family name in the original series, too. Anakin Skywalker. “The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi.” The prequels and comics have just upheld that.

Because he never used the name Skywalker in the original movies... ?

Anything would be better than the old EU’s stupid story about how RotJ was secretly about stopping him from taking over the galaxy with the second Death Star.
