Eh, it’s a descriptor of the pilot. Without it I view the pilot as a male until the next sentence … the same way I’m going to view a nurse as being female until told otherwise. Certain professions do tend to swing towards one gender, so yeah, I find removing the ambiguity to be helpful in painting a picture in my mind.

I’m fine with the black one because it’s a visual description of a person; the Jewish one doesn’t add anything visual and is irrelevant. Why don’t you do one with the “white male” though and see if I start jumping up and down about it?
