I thought the creepy occult aspect of True Detective was what made it so interesting. If this is just another seedy police procedural about regular ole' crime and corruption, I'm far less excited.

I really enjoyed season 1 of True Detective and had high hopes for a season 2 that included female characters with dimension. But at this point, based on this casting announcement, I don't even really care who they cast in the female lead (presuming there is one). This casting is uninspired and gives me zero feels.

I'm the same. I'm a really independent person from a low middle class family (my parents said i would have to be because they can't help me) and i moved out right after graduating high school, worked constantly, paid my own way through undergrad and grad school and work hard at my career. I don't give a shit if a guy

"Just as we must expect men to not be threatened by a high-achieving or high-earning, accomplished, intelligent woman, we also must be able to see men as something other than only earners or doers who must baseline provide."

I hear you. I wasn't really looking to question my life choices this afternoon, at least none more involved than what I had for lunch. Ugh.

Agreed. Wanting to marry an investment banker isn't the same thing as wanting to marry someone who pulls their own goddamned weight. Yes, I'm successful and career-oriented, but I don't have the kind of income by myself on which one could support two people and a baby. Which means my partner needs to work. Not work so

Well, this essay makes me feel like a garbage person, or at least an utter failure as a straight single woman, so I'm going to stop internetting for the day now.

Dear la times

Eh, to oversimplify Feminism has a PR problem because women have a PR problem, because patriarchal culture still hasn't completely loosed its stranglehold on word creation and image control.

Thanks for the unsolicited advice, bro. Fortunately, as an educated, intelligent woman, I am more than capable of weighing the pros and cons of places I'd like to frequent and contribute to.

In order for women to avoid sexual assault as much as possible, all men need to be considered possible rapists and sexual abusers. Feminists have been trying to push the idea that if we talked to men more about consent and respect for other people's bodily autonomy, then that idea of the schrodinger's rapist wouldn't

When have either of them written all men are rapists? I would associate with them because they seem like cool people and are articulate about the struggles of women and POC.

THANK YOU! I hate the "message" in this song.

I really think that the anti-feminists have turned the word feminist into man-hater or person who believes that women are superior to men for a lot of people. I've seen/heard multiple people use the definition of feminism to explain why they aren't a feminist: "I'm not a feminist, I just believe that everyone should

What feminism is doing wrong is promoting sexual equality in a world that hates women. Going against the grain is never popular, sometimes even among those it's meant to uplift. Particularly with feminism since most straight women don't want to be shunned by those with whom they'd like romantic relationships.

Anyone else here not like her song? The chorus is catchy but the rest of it is a faux positive self-esteem anthem that encourages women above a size 2 to love themselves because some men like it. Yes, lets base our self esteem on whether men approve of us or not.

The things you're talking about are superficial and carry way, way less risk than a major surgical operation that includes anesthesia. In this specifically, it would also probably require many different procedures in order to stretch the skin out, each of which would be dangerous.

This woman and I have very different priorities. Mine is basically to avoid the hell of bra shopping as much as humanly possible. Hers is to look at the 9th circle of hell, bra shopping, and say, "How can I make this even harder?"

I'm going by what Lillian says and Lillian was pleased. Why are you questioning their friendship? It's crazy that so many people here are being so cynical about friends being nice to each other.
