Right, but then you start getting screwed on the ‘How Do I Get There and Hope To Land’ side of the house...over-engineering means lots of weight going up....and coming down. (Unless we just send tons of little titanium cube sats with cute little stainless steel feet)

You sound like a fella I could share some beers and contracting horror stories with.

I think the original commentor in this thread (and subsequent commenters) are being made fun of because this isn’t a concert tour or a book signing. No one on this planet has a choice of where this is going to occur, and yet the commentor feels the need to complain as if the eclipse organizer didn’t choose their city

I really like George- but the old rule still stands: if the answer to the question in your headline is ‘No’, then don’t write the article.

Unlikely, considering the entire planet has been topographically mapped via satellite.

Uh, yeah, you don’t know wtf you are talking about.

I really prefer to be positive and happy on here, and try to add something interesting or humorous to discussions. I also really like articles dealing with anything space related. In these articles, especially space-porn articles, there is always some guy pointing out that ‘hurr hurr dummy that happened 10,000 years

There is absolutely no difference. The light could not have reached Hubble any sooner-we are not watching a playback or recording of the event, so for all intents and purposes we are viewing the event in real time.

Oh FFS. Yay you, you paid attention to a tiny part of your high school science class. Space is big. We get it. Everyone reading this article knows that anything we observe in space happened in the past. Stop being so damn pedantic.

I dunno. I get what you are saying- but once you get into the millions of views on YouTube do you/she/anyone care? You are making pretty good money, becoming somewhat famous, and probably selling albums anyway. I guess what I’m saying is: are ticket sales to live concerts eventually going to go the way of the US

60MM views is degrading?

All this over 6000 birds a year? Mountain out of a molehill, much? Someone down below put the bird/housecat deaths in the millions, Google says it is actually in the billions. Billions. Vs 6000. This is why liberals can't have nice things.

Shuttle basically had a failure rate of 1 in 50...

I give you alot of shit for your FtWD reviews, Germain- but this was spot on. I fear watching some of my old childhood loves exactly for the “*why* did I like this?” reason..

I really hope they find a way to bring Reuben Blades back- he is so effing awesome.

I wonder why they don’t fight wars with knives or baseball bats then? Oh yeah, because you can’t kill nearly as many people nearly as efficiently with a knife or a baseball bat.

You need to have the laws in place for them to be considered an arrestable bad guy. Otherwise he is just another asshole on the street. You’d think this would be obvious, but anti-gun control seems to rank up there with religion in terms of lack of critical thinking..

It’s probably worse now. You wouldn’t believe how stupid the ‘ads’ are- you honestly wonder if you’ve wandered into some 7th grade-programmed school network. The ads also make you wonder, since obviously *something* occurred to prompt the creation of the ad, how stupid the people around you really are.

Couldn’t agree more. My 2012 MacBook Pro/Retina still serves as my all-around home and work laptop. Travels with me every day to work and sits happily in its Henge dock where I run Parallels and give Win10 a comfortable 8GB of RAM, then we go home and NetFlix/Plex. Gawd I love this laptop.
