Don’t blame the devs, blame the idiot Americans who have turned social issues and politics into a moronic team sport.

Unity is such a shitshow. As a smalltime solo dev myself, I really wish I could just ditch Unity and move on to a better engine but there is definitely a sunken cost fallacy element at play with the hundreds of dollars I’ve spent on tools and add-ons from the asset store and the countless hours i’ve spent learning to

I mean, I’m pretty sure they did look at Sonic 2 HD but all they took away from it was Tee Lopes lol

I’m only 20 or so hours in but so far the planet exploration “experience” has mostly just been loading up small, contained set pieces from a fast travel menu.

I read it just fine, thank you. The guy doesnt think pixel art will stand the test of time. Fair enough opinion I suppose, but Sonic Team’s output seems to suggest that the only “modern” alternative to pixel art is using 3D models whereas I think a Sonic game with high-res 2D art a la Wayforward’s games would look

Why is Sonic Team so fucking reluctant to even consider the idea of just creating high-quality 2D sprites?

I mean, I’m definitely not opposed to that as an option.

Hopefully the money they saved on having silent protagonists enabled them to hire a few extra voice actors to do the NPCs so you don’t have 600 different characters all sharing the same 5 voices.

Rules don’t apply when there’s big money involved.

The rest of August on Kotaku:

I love Part 4 and Josuke but I think my biggest problem is that Josuke is the only one who doesn’t feel like the “main character” of their respective part.

Agree. To be perfectly fair, some of the Wii U’s ideas were great! I think they would just work a lot better as you described them- an option. Some cool extra functionality from developers who want to add it for the people who want to use it.

As much as I’m down to clown on the Wii U, as a big-handed fellow, I actually fucking LOVED the way the Wii U gamepad felt in my hands, so I wholeheartedly agree with you on that point.

AI Image Generation is a tool.

It’s like someone at Sony broke open the “In case of emergency, just copy what Nintendo’s doing” box but the engineers were really behind and thought Nintendo was still doing the Wii U.

On one hand, as a fan of voice acting I’d actually like to see a new take on these characters. Even if its largely the same as the old take- judging by the Mario Wonder trailer- I’m ready to hear a new Mario.

Paladins being immune to all diseases is pretty handy when the adventure involves as much fucking as this one.

Translation:
“It’s probably logical to think that the rate of output we’re engaging in is going to lead to lower quality products overall but you idiots keep eating it up so who am I to argue with results?”

Wow. Loved the conversation but my nature compels me to make a crack about it being some real high-level nerd shit to complain that your immersion in a role-playing game is being ruined because the characters aren’t rejecting you enough.

Get ready for the inevitable flood “Nobody is still playing Final Fantasy XVI, surely the franchise must be dead” articles in a month or so and leading up to the PC release.
