slightly off topic ... every time I read about the Duggars I just think how can the parents get to know so many kids and offer them the one-on-one attention/care they need. 19 kids in a classroom is too high, and teachers need to offer students much less guidance and care than parents.

Agree with you, i also don’t like Aflleck. There is something douchy about him.

How do people watch more than 2 or 3 shows at a time? Seriously, who has time for that?

I get that, to some extent, they are willfully ignorant of the way the internet works. To some extent. Probably not as much as they want us to believe.

Oh, Gary. Sweet, sweet Gary. I’d never try to change your mind. That would be pointless. Just know that I’m pretty happy over here in my dump, with my great medical and education systems and paid parental leave.

Dude! No. I’m a person who has lived my whole life in a country with socialized medicine. I go to the doctor whenever I need to. Baby’s sick? Three times a week. Got a weird rash? Call up the office and get in that day. As a kid, I was hospitalized. I’ve given birth twice (once prematurely) and several family members

The sterilization was just the end step in the program starting in her childhood that created her to be an assassin, so yes, her monsterness was pretty much forced on her. It wasn’t “Oh I can’t have kids, I’m gonna go murder some folks”, it was a coldly deliberate step to ensure she had nothing in her life other than

Oh my. What an enormous relief. I’m so glad for you! And good on the anonymous someone.

Thanks for the info! Now I feel like a dick.

Amandla is a common South African name, it means Power in the Xhosa and Zulu language and was a protest call for blacks in the apartheid struggle. I used to think her name was silly too until I looked it up

Racist trolls were angry she was cast in the movie, of course they won’t leave her alone.

I was evicted yesterday. Today I received a call from the landlady saying someone had made an anonymous donation to clear the remainder of my debt, and they were making arrangements to get me back in. I am still stunned that such a big battle is being capped by such kindness, and I can go home.

So, this asshole husband is abusive and off his meds and rookie cop decides he knows best and that sleeping it off would be best for all parties - even knowing there’d been 14 other calls to the house??

This series “Till Death Do Us Part” from the Post & Courier (SC, not FL — but still) takes on this exact issue and discusses how their obsession with gun rights, combined with deep-seeded but outdated ideas about women, religion, and privacy, makes SC and other southern states really fucking bad at domestic violence

It sounds like these cops know or care fuck all about actual Proactive Threat Assessment. Fourteen calls should have triggered an investigation. And seriously, “She was going to be killed by this guy some day, somehow.” FROM THE POLICE CHIEF?!! He should quit, too. If someone made even the vaguest, most veiled threat

I think the issue is that your pay is just so uncertain when you’re a server. There’s a lot of people that work hard and deserve to make more money, but at least when you’re working fast food or something you *know* you’ll get paid for going to work. Being a server you could work your butt and STILL not make any money

“She was going to be killed by this guy some day, somehow. She didn’t have to die that night.”

I laughed. And laughed. Then started crying because omg I’m not sure the world can take ANOTHER four to eight years of a Bush presidency...

It made sense to me.

You believe women are all just imagining their sexual problems? If someone sees their lack of libido as a problem, then it is a problem. If they don't see it as a problem, no one is going to force them to take a drug for it.
