Did it take 45 minutes to get your food? Terribly slow service was a universal trait at Friendlys in the 80s and 90s.

When I got married I let my husband wear black jeans.  My mother almost had a cow.  I’m no longer married.  Are any of those statements related? Who knows?

It also ensures you don’t wear white jeans -- wouldn’t want to show up the bride.

But they’re black jeans! So it’s formal!

If you don’t live in the greater Kansas City area, you can make that 3 now.

Seeing the calories for ice cream actually encourages me to go for the bigger blizzard at Dairy Queen. I figure if a small Oreo Blizzard is 600 calories I may as well add 200 more and get the medium.

You left out the easiest and most effective way to avoid hot-weather food poisoning. Avoid hot-weather.

The biggest injustice here is using Coinstar. Just roll your change and take it to a bank or pay at a convenience store with rolls.

Short answer: No

Better title: Dear Salty Waitress, I’m willing to pay over $5 for a cup of coffee, but I’m too cheap to pony up a mere $.50 for a tip

If you make some sort picky specific nuisance order - sure.

“Even if it’s a buck”?

It’s weird because I feel like as soon as I justify tipping for coffee, then I guess I should start tipping for my shameless McDonalds addiction.  Putting together a burger meal and a shake feels like about the same amount of work as my white chocolate mocha, right?  Are people around here tipping for fast food?

“are you going to miss that $1 very much?”

Having been in the business you’d be surprised how often servers are uncomfortable acknowledging tips. Like a majority of them. Some say for some reason it makes them feel greedy. A lot of women say it opens the door for assholes to act like, well assholes. Sad to say, but a lot of people feel giving a tip entitles

When I used to be a line cook I never received any tips, the waiters made so much more money than us yet complained alot more even though we had the much harder job. Why is it that some people “deserve” to be tipped and others don’t. I understand waiters and bartenders because their wages are purposely suppressed

Should I tip my barista for a cup of coffee?

You sound needy.

Well sure, of course baristas would appreciate a tip. Anyone would appreciate more money for doing their job, unless that person lives in a country whose culture frowns on that sort of thing. But here’s the thing, getting someone a cup of coffee is not a skilled task or a personal service. I’m less inclined to tip a

Okay...I am in the “if you can’t afford to tip, you can’t afford to go out” school of thought, but where do you draw the line? I often go to Subway to get a CHEAP sandwich, and then hit Dunkin next door for a bagel or donut to go. Bot places have tip jars next to the register, and unless I’m paying in cash, (where I
