Fuck. Fuck Fuck fuck. So we have non-violent drug offenders serving 25 years in prison but child molesters, child rapists, and those who facilitate the abuse and sexual exploitation of children get a slap on the wrist and told to behave from now. Seriously! We cry about ISIS and ebola which kill so few Americans it’s

I love my kid but by god, if I was rolling in disposable income I would get a nanny first thing.

No nanny to bang, but my dad also married the 22-year-old student he was “advising.” Who left him 11 years later for her graduate advisor — I found a pleasing symmetry in that, at least.

Correction: they are nurses with a Masters of Science in Nursing degree. The MSN has different focuses, one of them being nurse practitioner, which allows the nurse to provide advanced clinical care.

The issue isn’t that it’s “hippie.” The issue is that they cut corners and didn’t use enough of their active ingredients. Zinc oxide is a very effective sunblock ingredient. Any sunscreen is going to be less effective if the manufacturer cuts the active ingredient in half.

I loved my CNM. They were so relaxed, they answered all of my insane first-time mom questions patiently, and were accepting of anything you wanted to do that they felt was medically safe. Want to have a drug-free birth? We’ll make it happen! Looking for a birthing tub? Book fast because the hospital where we have

ok wait though. I am a person who is planning on becoming an OB-GYN and I’ve been working in hospitals for the past four years, doing health disparities work. I am pro-medicine, and pro-doctors. I am WITH you in that Ricki Lake is not an expert who in many ways is doing more harm than good.

However, I agree with Lake

Home birth is great until you have to be carried naked through the streets of New Your by Hannah and Jessa and Laird.

I actually think the midwife model of care with certified nurse midwives is fantastic. Both of my kids were delivered by CNMs and the training and education they go through (and regulation and licensure) is top notch. I do not think direct entry midwives are a good idea because as a consumer you just don’t know what

This poor girl :( Seeing this girl broke my heart this morning. As someone who’s spent some time in a children’s hospital with a sick kid I can say that visits like these from anyone, from friends, family, athletes, celebrities, really is a beautiful gesture. We got to watch the most recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Movie

You know what, I’m going to copy&paste a really good post I saw on Tumblr. Not my words, but I wish they were because they are so right.

I feel that way about the word curate. Really you curated those earring? You did extensive research on the artist, the materials, the style in which they were created and then carefully arranged, and rearranged them? You have extensive schooling and knowledge of all things earring that you are an expert in the field?

Apparently when a woman gets pregnant, her citizenship is sucked out of her and into the unborn baby.

I think she meant liberally as if she dipped her child in it like I dip my spoon in nutella.

This is the second article in as many days that seem to mock parents for being concerned and upset that their kids got sunburned (this one more subtly than yesterday’s, at least). Kids getting sunburned isn’t some “Privileged White Parents” over-reaction. Children’s skin is very fragile. When it gets burned it

Well, that’s not totally fair. Zinc/titanium oxide sunscreens are often better at preventing burns than avobenzone/oxybenzone sunscreens.

You know, the kid gets a booboo, you either kiss it to make it better or you fly him to an intensive care facility in another state. Same difference.

Unfortunately not true, ALL sunscreen needs to be reapplies (a shot glass’s worth for the body) after 2 hours of sun exposure.

Although it sounds like the result of some freaked-out parent being annoying, these sunburns are legitimately terrible.

These photographs are very Kate Chopin, The Awakening.
