You presume I've never seen the Criterion release; I have. And yes, the effects work on "Armageddon" is beyond impressive and worth exploring, as Criterion did. But there are far-better blockbuster films for which to invest this kind of hard work and probing analysis. I'd argue Bay's "The Rock" is one of them.
