oh my god this shit with the root has to stop

It’s not all about power and 0-60 times, it’s also about handling. Lighter vehicles are inherently more “tossable” in corners.

TIL: The Mk4 Supra looks exactly like an MKV Supra.

Hang the fuck on. When the hell did 3600+ pounds become “relatively light-weight”? My 2004 GTO, considered a pig, was 3750lbs. My 2011 335i xDrive boring ass sedan probably weighs about the same as the convertible. I must’ve zoned out on the weight of modern sports cars over the last few year but all this does is

Were you going to post some pictures of the wrecked truck? I think those pics are from how they come from the factory.

You think a full EV version will lose 1.5-2k lbs? You are dreaming, right?

I have bad news about the relative energy density of batteries vis-a-vis gasoline... If this thing was a full-EV, it would be gaining 1500-2000 lbs.

Why are you even here?

Or is it a case of “Do it right, or don’t do it at all”?

Maybe they hated it because its a hideous, overgrown Hot Wheels?

Fine by me — I always thought it was too ugly to drive and too German to own long-term. If this frees up the Toyota engineers to work on new affordable sports cars — like a new Celica and MR2 — I’d consider it a win.

It’s almost like both things can be true at the same time because people have different needs/wants for their cars. Imagine that!

If the starting point is 72%, then their definition of range must be “highway range”. Further evidence to support the idea EVs should just have a reported highway range and city range, instead of a confusing jumble of the two.

What a weird metric. They were never at 100% of EPA range because Tesla apparently is able to score real well with the EPA test, but does horribly in real life. So saying they only achieve 64% of that is... well, kind of meaningless as far of “degradation” claims go. Give us what they actually started out with. Did

I tense up with just regular level 2 guided cruise control, the fact these people can just surrender complete control to the machine is rather disturbing.

It’s actually more difficult stay at constant ‘alert for sudden takeover’ status than it is to just drive.

Count me as part of that 98%. The only worthwhile feature is automatic lane changes which work very well. I’m constantly annoyed they’re holding that feature hostage behind an $5,000-$15,000 paywall. So many other automakers include it in their basic driving assist packages now.

The Trolley Problem... that’s my reason for not trusting AI to drive me anywhere. Add in I bought an EV to have a little fun jamming the pedal to the floor and momentarily get pushed back into my seat! FSD isn’t going to voluntarily do that...

I got it free for a month and stopped using it after a couple days when it would refuse to take an exit that was on the route.  It’s a cool party trick sometimes but the stress of making sure it was doing the right thing was way more than just driving.  It also liked to change lanes a lot even though changing lanes
