Yeah but you can also play these games on console with a controller. Or you can play DOS2 on a PC with a controller.

It’s more a D&D 5E game that takes place partly in Baldur’s Gate.

It’s not a late 90s isometric, real-time-with-pause RPG, sure. It’s Divinity: Original Sin 2 in a D&D universe with 5th Edition rules that are implemented about as well as in any previous game. But don’t let the name keep you from a game that should be pretty good when it releases!

Would like to echo that feeling after about 8 hours of play.

Because Beamdog isn’t a particularly good developer of original content?

As someone who purchased it for Early Access - this. I don’t get why people expect everything that comes with a full on release for anything that is Early Access. I am spending my money willingly and with the blinders off.

Yeah, that’s literally the point.

I’m pretty much the opposite. I find Planescape and BG2's combat to be pretty weak. The story and characters are enough to save them (especially Torment’s) but even later on when I was more powerful and had access to busted magic it just never clicked with me.

Meanwhile I love the combat in Divinity, especially the

This game seems to be going more for the Planescape kind of vibe, which is definitely part of what cRPGs used to be.  Torment was not a heroic journey by any means.

Whatever happened to hardcore realistic characters like Minsc and Boo?

The pandemic likely has slowed them down, but every game Larian has done through early access ends up coming through the other side in great condition with easily some of the best post-release support a dev can do.

It looks good though, just need to get the bugs worked out before the game fully releases.

My general rule for new consoles is to wait 18 months.  Generally by then they have worked out the bugs and have released some exclusives worth getting. Ironically it still meant I got an Xbox 360 with a flawed board and no HDMI port.  But that was the only one that burned me

This. As someone who grew up with only Nintendo consoles, I was so thrown off when I first played Kingdom Hearts and the lower X-button was confirm instead of the O on the right. To this day it takes time to adjust when I’m jumping between Switch and PS4.

You can use the accessibility settings to flip them around, which is hilariously what a lot of game developers tell us to do instead of adding custom button configurations in their games.

“Foreigners should become uniform with Japan.”

The best way to fight them is to play patient, ignore Theseus for a while and lure Asterius into the outer area. You can see a little reticle on you when Theseus is charging up a spear throw, so you can use that to time a dodge or make sure you’re behind a pillar while you focus on Asterius. For him, best approach is

I mean, it went from dumb 4chan edgelord shitposting to some weird philosophy for middle-aged moms.
