This is a good practice. I do the same thing. Along with a strong test shove from several angles before going under.

Exactly this! Every time I have a car up on stands I will give it a strong shove. Not a pansy little push. If that car is going to come off the stands, I’d really prefer it to be when I’m next to it, not underneath it.
