Och, now. The fight marks don’t show in these pictures (and are mostly healed anyway) and all the mud has been cleaned off!

Fortunately, he was already eating pizza again by the time he became mine. And showed me how to make decent at home pizza. Which reminds me, that I should make some again. Haven’t made pizza in ages.

Crete is an option or basically any of the islands just off the Turkish coast. I’d be curious about Cyprus, but that seems to be one of the more expensive places for some weird reason. I’ll look into Sicily as well - I have never been there and would be interested to get a first impression.

I love learning about regional food varieties - thank you. I’ll have to look up northern spy, I somehow doubt that it’s available in my area. But if, I’ll want to give it a try.

I like Corfu, it’s just the only Greek island I’ve been to more than once before. Advantage: it’s basically the only one still a bit green this time of the year. Disadvantage: it’s relatively far up north among the Greek islands and could be cooler already than e.g. Crete

I don’t live in the US, so decent apples for a variety of purposes are available at any supermarket.

Just a word of caution regarding a pizzaiolo as husband material.

Mine too, well, not the wirting. I’m not much of a writer. But my brain and body really want to mostly shut down for a while. My last vacation was at the start of June and it’s really showing in my energy levels.

So as long as people are willing and able to go to a farmers market they’ll be able to get good baking apples?

I don’t really like either of those for baking. They have the wrong texture and seem too ... watery? for baking. They make good eating apples, especially honeycrisp.

Bramley outside UK can be tricky, just as Gravensteiner outside Switzerland/Southern Germany can be a bit difficult, but the others are not that hard to get. It sometimes seems that the US for all it’s regions suitable for apple growing never got into the habit of growing cooking and baking varieties.

I recommend using proper baking varieties like bramley, braeburn, boskoop, glockenapfel or gravensteiner. They will make a taste and texture difference.

Mr Krimi had shown me the throttle thing, but I forgot... so the choke it was. I better get used to all of it - it’s the designated summer city car. Summer in this case defined as no snow/no sleet.

I was just about ready to google when one of the garage guys came over and showed me which knob I needed to pull out. Technically, I could have gotten away without using the choke by feeding some gas in. It’s still warm enough weather, but it’s easier to start with it.

My parents‘ old Mazda had a choke, but that was replaced with a Volvo by the time I could drive.

Sorry, can’t help there. I had picked them up via online dating and both our profiles were very clear that we were not looking for a romantic relationship.
