Because that’s as far as OSU’s responsibility goes. Domestic abuse is an issue for the police. Whatever OSU can do, they can’t resolve that part of it. They can only respond accordingly within their power, e.g. making sure abusers and enablers of abusers are removed from their payroll.

To be fair, that’s how we should want the justice system to work--impartially applying the laws in place.  The answer isn’t to have the justice system pay attention to public sentiment, but rather to have the right laws in place and to uphold them vigorously and consistently.
