The point of Carrier based naval warfare is that the fighters can fly faster and carry weapons that can harm a major ship. In Star Trek that’s just not rational. Starships can themselves get anywhere quicker than a shuttle/fighter. Starships can target and destroy shuttles/fighters easily. Most Starships have shields…
