This doesn't work at all with me. It's the reason my desk is covered in stuff, and my computer has 450 windows open. I find I'm better if I take at least a couple minutes at the end of the day / session to close up / tidy up. I can leave the active project accessible, but not with everything all over the place.
I'm a member of the Co-op by me in Canada. There's a couple items they carry that no one else does, and some of the sale items are really good. However the store is a lot dingier than normal supermarkets, usually isn't very busy, the normal prices are higher than supermarkets, and some of the selection is poor.
Someone I know had an HP personal colour laserjet of some sort at work. For economy reasons they generally only printed monochrome unless they need colour. One day, with colour toners at 80%+, the printer refused to print. They got the message:

Good advice is to buy business class machines: Dell Lattitude, Lenovo Thinkpad, etc. These are generally better built and more likely to last.
