Indeed the whole idea of psychohistory is that individual moments involving specific humans don’t matter in the long run.

I think the only way to do this is to use Foundation as a backdrop.  Don’t try and tell that story on that scale.  Instead create new stories within that framework.  

It is quite well known that Asimov wrote Foundation as a sort of scifi meditation of The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire. And it is a story about BIG ideas more than character interactions or action. So it is “unfilmable” not just because of the epic scope, but because all the action or character drama we’d expect…

I read that. It was not solved. It is just one person’s theory and the evidence was still pretty thin. Not saying it couldn’t have been that but it was in no way definitive. There were MANY unanswered questions.
