Makes me really want a proper Arkham Horror video game...
My favorite part of FFXIV was when I was randomly running around and got into a fight with some significant enemy of some sort (wow, this story is getting vague...sorry) and a remix of the Final Fantasy II battle theme started playing. Like, it wasn’t even from a well-known Final Fantasy that came out in the US. I…
Literally no one could have expected anything different from TinyCo. This is what they do and this is what mobile gaming has become: slapping a shiny new coat of paint on the same game over and over and over again. I’m still playing it but I’m seeing how far I can get without spending money. It’s slow and boring, just…
You had me sold until “a perfectly distributed grilled cheese ball.”
Finally, someone besides me that appreciates Freya.
Oh shit, is it supposed to be coming out soon? Or is that a mistake?
But those games don’t use this new anti-piracy technology, so they’ll continue to be available.
Glad to see you nominated Star Ocean: Second Story. Breath of Fire II and III were great too.
Jason, if you don’t want MOBA coverage on Kotaku like it would seem, don’t post anything about MOBAs. These 50-word articles that are basically just links to other sites are lazy and diminish your brand
This is kinda the biggest problem, yeah. I personally don’t mind the new artstyle. I like the cleaner, more colorful characters, but it’s definitely jarring compared to the backgrounds. Particularly on the world map.
Bleh. Maybe they’ll just go whole hog on the terrible exposition and make it have all been a dream.
I just get a little salty when OoT and FFVII basically win every single time, personally. Maybe Undertale doesn’t deserve a “best game ever” designation, but I don’t think either OoT or FFVII do either, not simply for being a cornerstone in the evolution of their franchises (and in FFVII I’d argue it wasn’t even a…
Yeah. My guess is Kotaku’s cutting back on its MOBA coverage in general. But yes, Yannick did sort of skimp on DOTA2.
It’s really too bad that Fire Emblem doesn’t have any iconic characters that use something unique like...I dunno...an axe or something *cough*Hector*cough*
I agree. Short of some totally bullshit timewarp or memory-erasing shenanigans, the dynamic will likely have changed for the worst after all this is over.
Ocarina of Time yes. I would agree that it was important and its mechanical innovations helped shape the franchise for over a decade. Final Fantasy VII did very little new and what it did do new actually made the series worse...in my opinion. It started the series down a “style over substance” path and began…
Am I literally the only human being alive that doesn’t mind the graphics? It didn’t exactly look that pretty before. And before you rag on me, FFVI is easily my favorite Final Fantasy game by a wide margin, second only to Chrono Trigger in terms of favorite JRPGs, so it has nothing to do with me not liking the game.
So what you’re saying is that people have played the game and love the game enough to band together to make a concerted effort to help it win a popularity contest? Seems like a good game to me, then. Besides, isn’t “hey everyone, here’s an online poll, let’s vote for the thing we love!” in keeping with the spirit of…
This would have made me soooo mad.
