It’s all political. The Right and its judges decided to act a way about covid that makes no sense (and isn’t even consistent with other extant health mesaures) purely because they carved out a political identity around the 2020 pandemic and Trump admin.

In any case, Trump’s policy was to do as little as possible during the pandemic.

Vaccination could have been mandated and would have probably saved hundreds of thousands of lives.  The courts chose not to and to actively oppose as many local mandates as they could get away with.

This never, ever happens if she’s living in a red state. She’d be initially shunned, then celebrated as a bacterial vector martyr, then booked on Hannity to speak about being “canceled”.  Then “Hannity” goes off the air for a month while he recovers from TB.
