I agree with you, this would be amazing for city tasks. But, lots of families need to make long trips every once and a while, so owning one of these just wouldn’t be an option.
We make the drive overnight, so usually we can go that long without anyone waking up.
Electric family vans just won’t work until they reach at least a 400 mile range, with a less-than-10-minute full charge time. Driving my Caravan with a wife and three kids from NC to VT is hard enough as it is - having to stop and wait for batteries to charge every 200 miles would make it impossible.
