The Gamma Quadrant isn’t on the Federation’s doorstep. It’s Dominion territory on the other side of the Bajoran wormhole.
In Hitch’s case it is especially damning because he had absolutely no patience for “method” actors like Montgomery Clift who, on the set of minor Hitchcock film “I Confess,” would frustrate Hitch to no end - he just wanted him to do the scene without having to go through all his inner turmoil and process work. He also…
It’s really hard for me sometimes, because I have traditionally not liked JRPG’s all that much, but DQ11 was so great, so perfectly balanced, so charming, so easy to learn and get into, and ultimately it was quite deep, and now I’m spoiled because I’m trying other JRPG’s and not finding any that are as solid as that…
It’s good you read the book, because I think people who haven’t would have a pretty tough time figuring out the characters and what they’re doing/what they want. They move so fast you have to fill in a lot of blanks from your memory of the book and the previous miniseries.
It’s kind of a mess, but when it works it works really well. The cast is excellent, on par with the original cast for sure, but the script, especially in the first half of episodes, is all over the place. They made the decision to start in the middle of the story and flash back to the opening and that REALLY hampered…
How on earth French Baguette managed to go undrafted is beyond me.
I get what you’re asking, but I remember when Bose first came out with the demo for these at SXSW a few years ago, and I tried them. It felt like freaking MAGIC to hear crisp clear audio coming into your ears but having nothing actually in your ears. It felt like the future.
That’s great. Seriously. Games have gotten too big. I like the idea of just romping through a few hours for something interesting that doesn’t wear out its welcome.
There is a reality show called Murder House Flip in which houses where grisly murders happened are renovated and flipped HGTV style. I haven’t seen any of it but if you had told me true crime and HGTV could be mashed up I wouldn’t have believed you.
The gooeyness of the script notwithstanding, the soft folk guitar score is on its own a splendid music cue.
I always thought the Nazi symbols were a bit much, like there would have to be some people in that crowd who are thinking “Nazis? Are we the baddies?”
Another thing worth highlighting is the original music. The score by WG Snuffy Walden has some really nice stuff, especially in the later episodes. The acoustic country ballad with a viola in the lead as they walk to Vegas is iconic, as is the Mother Abigail theme. And the scary stuff is great too. The opening guitar…
We saw it and got some immediately and it is INCREDIBLE. Very cool to see a homemade version.
Colin still slaps. I’d love more stories about Randy Beeman.
Because you said you individually were cool with the terms. I thought I would add my experience. Obviously the world of people with mental illness is vast and varied, but in conversations like this it can be easy to think “well if that person has mental illness and says it’s ok, then it must be ok” and a lot of times,…
“I still have no idea who the target audience of the new Animaniacs is supposed to be. If I had to guess, well, it’s the people making it.”
Cool. I have a friend with mental illness who has asked me to stop using that term. I’m sure some people like you are cool with it, but there are other people who aren’t.
I’m a pretty hardcore Christmas fan, but I also think the earliest possible place to start it is Black Friday, or perhaps the Monday after Thanksgiving.
There are more gamers in America than there are rural farmers, so why do we spend so much time talking to rural farmers and making them happy? Why not a politician who speaks to gamers and can hang with them?
