That is I suppose possible. It's also possible that the police simply lied/ were misinformed (I know a few of the ones where cops said that it wasn't reported other officers later confirmed that it was). Would be nice if people were better than I give them credit for (fewer death threats would be a hopeful sign even

I would say mostly the abysmally low number of female protagonists. Though to be fair I think the demographic data tends to show a preference for games that either lack a main character (such as some casual games) or games where the player creates their own character. But I could be wrong about those stats.

I agree with your edit. My point was that the likely hood of something going bad for the victim beyond the terror of a threat is greater in SWATing. However good point that if we assume the police conduct themselves as they should (which to be fair we don't hear about as much because it isn't really news worthy) then

Much appreciated that you clarified using different language to make sure I understood what you meant.

How am I being a sociopath in this instance. 2 are threats that in general tend to revolve around the perpetrator committing the whole of the act. The other introduces an uncontrolled variable (SWAT) that can easily result in serious injury or death. If we go on the assumption that people tend to act by proxy (on the

Justify no. But could give a little more context. Valve was right to cut relations (at least within their's to). But Valve could have dropped the ball and it's nice as a consumer and Software person to know who I'm buying from/ may want to sell through in the future.

They might with this. It would show further how seriously they take it. And a refund would assumably subtract from the money they owe him.

Any reason you feel that way? I have no clue whether he is or not, I just haven't seen anything about him other than this and a write up on his game.

To him it might be a hobby. Not that it makes the early tweets any more professional (they aren't, though as someone with limited impact on Valve an apology might have smoothed them over) just he's such a small player I doubt they would have axed his game just over them. I really think the death threat is what pushed

Dude probably has some issues. And while I wish valve wouldn't have pulled it (I really wanted that game) I think they acted reasonably.

What a pitty. The dev's lack of anger management skills aside (and who am I to judge on that one) the game looked really cool. I honestly had planned to pick it up once it released when I saw an article on it a year or so ago. But it not being on Steam decreases how likely that is.

Um. Swatting (and I could be wrong) is only considered successful if SWAT shows up, right? That is an intensely dangerous situation (quite a few people have died or been harmed even in situations where say SWAT showed up at the wrong place). So while I agree that rape and death threats need to be taken seriously and

Well neither would I. But I haven't ever been angry enough to write an advertiser either.

Not a GG guy. Didn't even know what they were until about a month or so back (I thought all of the hoopla was over gamersgate.com). And while I'm not a huge fan of all of the views on FemFreq I do like some of the videos (though I thought some of the older ones stood on their own better than most of the new series).

Actually from what I've seen most of the KKK (they are actually multiple groups FYI and not a single one) is mostly non-violent segregation now a days as opposed to what they said and did in their hay days.

Hey petticoat. Long time no see. I just wanted to point out that from what I've seen of the gamergate folks comments (admittedly not much since I didn't realize that it wasn't about the game distribution site with a similar name) claim that many of the threats were made by impostors or people not actually affiliated

You really think it's that hard to get companies to pull ads? Mozilla's last CEO stepped down over similar shit even while his employee's and peers (many of whom were LGBT) said they supported him and trusted him professionally (obviously many also pointed out that they didn't agree with his rather odious political

There was some guy on twitter threatening to swat gamergaters. Don't remember the guys name (someone posted a link in the comments of some article here) or anything I just wanted to point that out.

Amazingly well put.

Did you miss how capitalism works? Advertisers pay to put ads where they think they will generate revenue. Your just letting them know that they aren't by telling them that you don't like them on a site. This isn't any worse than say writing an advertiser that advertises on a porn site that has say stolen nudes on it
