Pretty sure that is high enough to reach terminal velocity. For those better at math than me, please feel free to check on that.

Love the column. Great advice.
Or... just spit-balling here... just ignore her. I mean completely.
I have worked at some startups and did 100+ hour weeks. It was hard work. If I was ever involved in another startup where I really believed and cared about the business succeeding, I would probably do it again. In an established company, 40 hours is the target. Sure, once in a while may have to stay late; that is how…
If ever there was a solution, waiting for a problem... this is it.
Great. I did just install a good water filter under my sink for drinking water, but I live in NJ... so yeah. :/
I basically do this now. When someone says something that I don’t agree with, I want to know why they think this way and what is influencing it. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs or opinions, but I try to find out if they are at least understanding of the issues and not simply parroting someone else’s ideology.
Awesome stuff. I like where we can use cool technologies in new and exciting ways, especially to help folks who are suffering from illness or injuries.
If I made that kind of money, I would be giving most of it away too. At some point you can only buy so many Russian Typhoon submarines converted into luxury yachts.
Well if folks are hell bent to cut off their noses to spite their faces, you cannot really stop them. =) Also never claimed to be a hard fast rule, just general motivations.
It sort of bothers me that people still use the label “prank” to describe swatting. I don’t know if there is a better word to be honest, I challenge others to come up with one. Prank sort of implies something benign and harmless, where swatting is far from either. People can get killed (especially in this time of…
So now that we have successfully hijacked this article and thread to talk about how awful insurance is, I agree. I don’t blame Obama. I wanted single payer (basically Medicare for all). Like almost every other country in the world. But since that somehow was somehow a socialist plot, we had to create some bastard of a…
Good Information. For me, I purchased solar panels. During the hottest times of day, I am producing more then enough to run my AC and have power to spare. Also, the panels help keep the heat out of my attic and subsequently the house.
If I was a prepper, I would forgo the 9v battery and go with flint and steel. Don’t have to worry about that loosing a charge and works pretty reliably.
I have done training for it in the Air Force. Each person responds differently. Some degrade faster than others too. Part of the point in the training is giving you the experience in a controlled environment so you can be aware of your symptoms so you can react before you pass out.
That is unfortunate. I have seen that in some instances, but I don’t know how widespread it is. If the skills they need are easy to come by, they may feel that they can just get someone else. If the skills are specialized or experience is important, they have less power to be hard asses, because it can be way more…
I am skeptical too, but I have seen ‘similar’ low ball jobs. I was called by a head hunter years ago, asking for someone with my skills. I went over the requirements of the job and the skills they wanted. They started listing off all this extra crap, way more than I had. I asked how much this position was paying and…
I think that is valuable advise. Sometimes though they control the purse strings too. But it almost never hurts to ask.
I just think it is funny to pat yourself on the back for something like this. “Look, all the users who used to have this functionality downloaded the app after we split it off. Yeay Us!”
I have very much the same problem, so I can empathize.
