Holy shit. What an arbitrary place to draw that line. My ex-employer told me they only do bereavement for “immediate” family members, which they took to mean the parents who sired you and any siblings you might have. No one else. End of list.

Good god I hope she leaves a helluva Glassdoor review.

Good riddance.

I feel the same way and I eagerly await that award any day now.

She told me “We would make an exception if she had raised you.”

Seriously! What kind of manager won’t get their hands a little dirty for two hours to help their best employee, with a backstory like that, attend her college graduation.

Honestly, this woman sounds like she’s an incredibly hard worker and can be relied upon to get the job done. She’s held one job for six years, she can probably point to many positive performance reviews, and now she’s got a degree and I bet her school would help her find a new job.

Once after I put in notice I pushed for an exit interview with the manager at the tippy tippy top of my mid-size newspaper job because I wanted to tell that old windbag right to her face that it is completely cruel and shortsighted not to accommodate a day off to attend your grandmother’s funeral.

I would very much like to see that graph and google isn’t helping.

Y’know what, Abigal. No. That’s just not how this works.
It’s just not.

I welcome the all-male Sex and the City reboot.

Seriously! The whiny little manbabies who were so upset about Mad Max were the reason I paid to see Mad Max in the theater.

My mom’s only Ghostbusters story has to do with me, adorably wearing my friend’s toy proton pack, declaring that I was as cool as Janine.

And y’know what, Janine was awesome. Therefore I am awesome.
We are all Janine.

Nobody cares about your boner.

I have to disagree. He’s not going to win, and he knows that, but continuing to stay in the race until the democratic party has adopted a more progressive platform (that which the people DID ask for) is certainly the right move.
